We recently saw statistics suggesting that 30 or 40% of men 18-29 were single but women were not. And many people keep saying that men should only blame themselves for their shortcomings. But this isn't so simple.

Criticism: The stats are about marriage and do not reflect reality for all sorts of relationships. It's valid criticism but we'll avoid criticise that here.

Analysis

The statistics of age disparity in sexual relationships shows us that men's dating pool is essentially comprised of women their age and younger, while women's dating pool is essentially comprised of men their age or older.

Demographics of the United States

TLDR: 5% more men are born than women every year. The generation that is currently 27-33 are outnumbering those in their 21-27 by 10 to 15% more individuals.

Other assumptions

The younger people are, the less they participate in the dating market, with a big decline when going beneath 18. And objective morals are unfavorable toward men dating younger girls at this age.

Conclusion

Without data on demographics, and with the assumption on younger people's participation in the dating pool, we can already see how the dating market is highly unfavorable to men in their late teens and early 20s. 18 year old men's outnumber women their age, and are competing against older men.

This situation should theoretically get better as men advance in their middle to late 20s, because younger women joined the dating market. But not for the current generation because they're severely outnumbered by the men in their early 30s, which reduces the amount of available women their age or older.

Men who are suffering from these odds right now are blamed but this isn't something they have control of. Their value didn't shrink due to them simply pulling less effort, their value narrowed down due to sheer number of individuals.

When you look at the other data from the statistics on single people, and compare it to the pyramid of age, you notice that when men start to be outnumbered by women, it's women's singleness that starts to increase.

Predictions for the future

Boys who are currently 15-20 should live comfortable sexual lives in the next decade, but the boys born these last 3 years will have it even harder than our current 18-29.
