In college I worked at a daycare/night care. I wasn't allowed to be alone with children under the age of 5 or change diapers. Go figure.

If you don't have pictures of the work you've done already, the next time you get a gig, start a portfolio (or ask friends with kids if you can borrow them to make one), and be sure to get pictures of you with some happy customers.

Stereotypes tend to break down very quickly once you're dealing with a specific person rather than an abstract idea. Being able to send them a portfolio will make them deal with you as an individual, not as a generic scary, unartistic man.

Yeah once i applied to be an on-campus bartender with a referral from a friend, took an alcohol education course, passed, got certified only to find out the job went to a girl i know who applied about a day before the course began.

She didn't even have to send them a resume or do an interview, they hired her and a another girl friend of hers immediately, before looking at any resumes because they were cute girls.

There are plenty of occupations where its easier to get hired as a girl. Even retail for example.

That's discrimination based on ignorance plain and simple. I recommend you to educate yourself on the differences in learning between genders, in order to have ammo to challenge these stupid beliefs.
