I would literally bet tens of thousands of dollars, on the spot right now, that her mother, father, or both pushed her to try and join the group just so they could later make a big story out of it. A 9-year-old girl did not try to join an all boys' choir by herself.

It's the same as the clock kid. It's the same as the Australian barber shop girl. A parent with a progressive agenda used their child in a politically based stunt.

It's not about girls singing in the choir, is the money and fame the choir can provide.

Why do parents use their young children as pawns just to get a quick headline? If you really want a girl in a choir, make your own or join one that already exists. Same with the girl wanting to join Boy Scouts story. If you really want your children to be strong and independent, don’t pressure them into doing something that will probably get the child bullied and the parents their fifteen seconds of fame. Coming from the perspective of a Boy Scout, yes, we do more interesting things than Girl Scouts, but that doesn’t mean you have to fuck up a 100+ year old tradition and tell the government to stop funding us. Either tell whoever your leader is to take you on a camping trip once in a while or just do your own thing without them.

As someone who studied choral music education in college, fuck anyone who demands that all choirs be mixed, and that goes both ways. You wouldn't demand that an electric guitar be allowed in a classical orchestra, nor would you demand that a drum kit be added to an a capella group, and something like this case is no different. Men and women have different voices (boys and girls slightly less different, but still), and that means music for an all-men's group isn't necessarily commutative. The same goes for an all-women's group. And for mixed groups, the ratio of Sopranos, Altos, Tenors, and Basses can be very strict, resulting in some people being turned away because the music calls for it.

Bottom line, the goal of a music-making group is to make music, not be politically correct.

This reminds me of that Ben Shapiro episode of the girl trying to join a boys scout group. As far as I'm aware she wasn't even transgender (correct me if I'm wrong) so why she wanted in was beyond me.

I personally don’t really see a problem with doing away with gender segregation, but only so long as it is truly done away with. If women are so terrified of men that they need women-only spaces and activities, then men deserve similarly segregated spaces. However, if women wish to be included in traditionally male-only groups then they cannot complain about a lack of exclusively female spaces.

The men’s rights movement is not about being anti-progressive, it’s about being anti-double-standard. Women are entitled to the same rights as men, but men are entitled to the same rights as women. We aren’t waging a war against women, we are waging a war against inequality.

Boys and Girls both need exclusivity in some aspects, each gender (prior to whatever alphabetical letter applied) psychologically and physiologically need to grow and experience things in there own way. The sad thing is the parents did way way way more damage to this girl trying to push into this and subjecting her than any good of getting in would have done.

How is this justice? Its literally discrimination. Tradition is no excuse for discrimination, otherwise we'd still have slaves and plenty of other things that the modern world today sees as abhorrent. I'm all for male/female equality. I joined this sub bc I'm fed up of feminism becoming anti-meninism, and wanted to see pro-male/female equality post, similar to r/pussypassdenied , I guess. But some of you are such neck beards. This is just as bad as an all-female choir excluding a boy bc of "tradition", and I can guarantee you would not all be so supportive of that.
