Mine was May 12, 2022. That night I took my daughter and my mom out for ice cream and we celebrated the death of something that had started to destroy me. ‘‘Twas a good day and one I intend to celebrate each year it comes round.

Congratulations on things ending. It was not a happy moment or a sad one me. Just another day, and another check box on the disentanglement (at the time still had to finish house sale and a bunch of other small stuff). Hopefully you weren't destroyed financially. The freedom on the other side has been so amazing. Good luck on the next stage of your journey and crushing it 💪

My wife finalized our divorce on the 4 year anniversary of a massive double stroke I survived. I didn’t go to court to contest it because I can’t drive due to my disability. She works in the legal field so did all the filings herself and I didn’t get a lawyer due to being on disability with no money. She was pretty easy on me considering she could have done whatever she wanted financially. Although she did take full custody of our kids without actually putting it in writing that she has full custody(they live with her full time and I see them at her discretion. We sold our house last month and split the profit. I’m living in an assisted living home due to my disability so the kids can’t live with me. But I’m rehabilitating quickly now that I don’t live in the same house as my ex. Not seeing my kids very often sucks. But so does being disabled. Thankfully I am Roman Catholic and I didn’t lose much of my long term memory or even my dominant side of my body and I’m only 43. I’ll be back on my feet and fully recovered before our kids graduate high school and she will just be some used up divorced women who destroyed her family. It sucks having my 20s and 30s wasted on a woman who was always playing the long con and it took a stroke to show me I was diluting myself. My only advice to anyone going through a tough situation is to prioritize yourself. Self care isn’t selfish. Enjoy life and never stop learning.
