I've had this thought recently... We can roughly highlight 3 eras in the evolution of humanity that are relevant to the matter at hand:

  1. Primal, cavemen.
  2. Legitimate communities with some form of societal structure.
  3. Modern days with social media.

It's fair to say that height was probably at the peak of its importance during cavemen days where you actually had to be physically strong and well-built in order to survive and protect women. Then the importance of it dropped once people started building societies with some semblance of economics and societal structure, since physical labor wasn't the only thing you could aquire resources with and in fact even then the most resources could only be acquired through mental labor. And nowadays the importance of height skyrocketed because of the abundance resources so therefore genetics matter more once again and the amount of options every average woman has due to social media.

Now getting to my point, how did short guys pass on their genes especially throghout the cavemen era? They had to have had other qualities that allowed them to survive and get access to women while competing with tall men who could impregnate as many women as they wanted. I reckon the only thing that makes sense is it has something to do with genetically predetermined above average mental capacity that goes beyond our modern day idea of what intelligence is. Either way they had something that allowed them to compete well and procreate for hundreds of generations.
