Forgetting Sarah Marshall?

Peter was a good boyfriend for Sarah, supported her in every way but she needed to "find herself" in her hipster boyfriend and become a A list movie star.

and in the end Peter realizes he doesn't need to define himself by his relationship with Sarah Marshall and is happy with himself, even when Sarah comes crawling back and is promptly rejected by him.

10/10 highly recommend, and it's an all around better movie than Barbie

No one would ever be allowed to make that movie... But it would be interesting to make a satire of the Barbie movie by reversing the gender dynamics.... People would flip the fuck out!

On a side note, I recently watched a Thai movie (comedy) where the husband and wife are constantly beating the shit out of each other. They don't portray the man OR the woman as abusers, they make fun of them and diss their behavior quite equally.

Domestic abuse is a big problem here in Thailand, but the culture acknowledges that women are capable hurting others of just as men are...

However, just like in the West, If your Wife beats you up, people will make fun of you, shun you, and loose respect for you.... whereas if you Husband beats you up, you'll get all kinds of sympathy and assistance.....

...just not from the Thai police, who usually consider any kind of domestic violence to be a 'family affair' and just don't get involved whatsoever....

The male equivalent would be a Ken movie. At the beginning of the movie, the Kens run the society with the Barbies staying at home to take care of their kids. The men focus on work, not spending enough time with their families. Later on, the stereotypical Ken and Barbie couple go to the real world. Barbie learns that in the real world, men are second class citizens with the majority of college students being women, feminist policies everywhere, etc. She then chooses to make Kenland a matriarchy. After the Kens discover that Kenland has been turned into a feminist "utopia", stereotypical Ken goes back to the real world to find an influential person to convince the Barbies that men have it worse. Who better than Tom Cruise? Tom Cruise risked his life doing stunts for Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part I only to later come to the realization that it was beaten by Barbie (literal feminist propaganda). By the time Ken and Tom Cruise arrive in Kenland, matters have gotten much worse. KenNews, having been infiltrated by the Barbies has been brainwashing Barbies and Kens that feminism is the way. On a TV screen, radical feminist messages appear on the screen, "Tired of the patriarchy?", "How to divorce your husband today and take most of his assets", and "Being a mother is kowtowing to the patriarchy". Ads on billboards promote sex-selective abortions to reduce the Ken population. Tom Cruise convinces the Barbies that the children need to be taken care of by the mothers using his charisma and tells the fathers it's time to have more fun with their families. Tom can cite the fact that ABC News wrote a piece against him titled, "Why leaving Tom Cruise makes Katie Holmes a feminist hero" as an example of how feminism is used by much of the MSM to justify the destruction of the families. The Barbies learn that they should love all of their children unconditionally. The Kens regain control of Kenland but to support the Barbies, spend more time having fun with their families and less at work.

There's a Spanish movie, 'Las brujas de Zugarramurdi', directed by Alex de la Iglesia.

Two guys failed at robbing a bank and scape, kidnapping the taxi driver who happens to be fed up with his abusive wife. The group is composed by a stupid toyboy, an attractive divorced man and the driver and to avoid the police they get to a forgotten village ruled by women, who are also witches and for a ritual want to eat these men alive.

The characters constantly complain about their wives/ex wives, the toyboy gets into trouble more than once for thinking with his dick, the divorced guy ends up hooking up with a young witch who is bat shit crazy and so on...the overall message is that men and women aren't compatible and only attraction/love makes relationships work for a while, but ultimately, they ruin us and we make them unhappy too. The ending is similar too but won't spoil it.

In a gender swapped film the male utopia would be a world where only boys were protected from having their genitals mutilated, where growing up boys get better grades for the same test scores, where men didn’t work in jobs that risked their lives and men only accounted for 5% of workplace deaths, women had all jobs in infrastructure keeping society going but get zero gratitude for, where men would be winning custody battles and paid child support and alimony for the rest of their lives, not needing to work a job. In this utopia, men freely express their emotions without worry about being ridiculed. We see a ferry take on water mid-crossover, and men and children are prioritized into the life rafts and the women have to stay behind in the sinking ferry. When being considered for promotion, corporate leaders have quotas so men are promoted twice as often. The government has an office for men’s rights but not one for women. Google has an annual doodle for November 19 meanwhile March 8 never shows a doodle and is now also International Toilet Day. Anyone pointing out men’s advantage in life gets branded a misandrist. The men in the film are portrayed as funny, smart, charming, and strong.

The women would be cast as useless morons who would be full of jealousy and cackles with a healthy sprinkle of crazy cat ladies. Women are told to woman up leading to high cases of depression.

Then, in the “real world”, women are winning every single custody battle and men who lose their job have their savings wiped out and end up in jail due to non-payment, in the real world women make fun of male genital mutilation and use the genital parts to make face creams to look younger. Men bottle up their amounts and account for all suicides. Women are the only ones offered coveted jobs and promotions due to exclusive quotas. When men complain about being sexually harassed at work, they end up getting fired. For college all scholarships are exclusive to women despite accounting for 60% of the students.

There would be a tiring tirade of a speech saying it’s impossible to be a man. You’re so successful and charismatic and it kills me you don’t think you’re enough. We have to be meeting elevated standards but somehow wanting more is wrong because men have had their era of privilege and it’s time to let women have their era above men.

You have to be masculine and told to man up, but also told to not bottle your emotions, you have to work hard and overtime and earn a lot of money but get complaints you don’t pull equal weight around the house, you need to make more money but can’t ask for a promotion because it’s not your turn, it’s women’s. You have to be showing empathy but will be branded as weak and taken advantage of. You’re supposed to just take it and if you complain you get branded an incel,…

A male equivalent of this would be a movie that at its core has an utter disdain for women as a class. Depicting every one of them as entitled, gold digger, superficial, crass, manipulative, lying, victim weaponising, shaming, gaslighting, reputation destroying women who lack any personal accountability.

The Barbie movie is special to women because Barbie told young girls they could be anything they wanted when they grow up...it inspired young girls. Barbie could be feminine or masculine. Barbie allowed young girls to have a wide imagination.

I don't think men or boys have a similar thing from our childhoods that inspired us the same way as Barbie inspired young girls. I was trying to think what from a young boys childhood even comes close and the only thing I could think of that was remotely close was Super Heroes. Hence why we have a million Super Hero movies. Because us men need to save the day and have all the answers. Thats our job apparently. Super Hero movies show that the hero is actually very human and that they struggle to cope with being a hero because all they want to be is normal and left alone but yet carry a huge burden. An idea I think a lot of men gravitate towards. Men are always told they have to be the best, strongest, fastest, coolest etc. etc. but so many men just want to be normal.

In both cases, Barbie or Super Heros they are distinct because men and women aren't the same but I think those are the closest comparisons I can come up with.
