I will probably feel more comfortable interacting because I assume he isn’t trying to hit on me. The flip side is that if he does hit on me I will be a lot more angry and completely disgusted than if he wasn’t wearing a wedding band in the first place (unless he’s a married man trying to look single by NOT wearing it in which case the anger and disgust are very obvious).

Yes, I am a pretty big, intimidating guy, and I have a fake black band that I wear out sometimes to specific places to put people at ease. For example, I like to solo camp and wearing it seems to ease people's fears around campsites or on the trail. If I'm going somewhere alone like the movies or a restaurant, I find I get fewer stares or worrying looks my way. At bars, it helps people be more sociable with me.

As far as dating, I don't notice any difference wearing or not wearing the ring. I'm usually wearing it with the intention of putting off the signal that I'm not available, but I have gotten some flirting while wearing it. Nothing more than usual, though.

Im married but only wear my wedding ring occasionally. Haven’t noticed a single difference in how women interact with me whether I have it on or not.

I actually do believe in “pre selection” but any single person thinking about wearing a fake wedding ring to get women should understand that that is weird as fuck and also unlikely to help you get laid.

I assume that they're not going to try to flirt with me and that leaves me more open to having conversations with them. It's not preselected, it's a no sexual approach zone where women feel more comfortable. You can smile at married men, hug them, and laugh at their jokes without them thinking that you want them to offer dick.

I wear a wedding band because I'm actually married and I actually get less attention from women than when I was single. I'm guessing that it's because I don't look at and flirt with women as much as I used to because I'm married, and that it has nothing to do with the fact that I'm wearing a ring on my finger.

I don't look or care. I'm just not going to think about a stranger's love life that hard because it means nothing to me. I think it's only really okay as a way to indicate a lack of romantic interest in others. (It's also unusual to even pick up on the jewellery someone is wearing unless you're planning to hit on them or something and are wanting to check they won't immediately say they're married.)

Honestly if we are talking about preselection, I get flirted on while wearing my wedding ring all the time.

One night three or four guys tried hitting on me; and I was wearing my wedding ring. All young men too on schoolies/spring break, maybe they’re into cougars or saw something on the internet involving wild married women.

I’m not entirely convinced that only taken men or men with proof of relationships are attractive to some people that have that fetish.

For many instances the size and quality of the rings and diamonds can also say many things about the person they are married to, ie status, wealth, perception of stature in certain societies.

I wear a wedding band because I'm married. I see a real difference in how women treat me. They approach me (in a friendly way) way more often and joke around a lot. Before I would say I'm pretty average looking and pretty socially skilled but women still seemed to keep me at arms length. Now that I'm married (or they see my ring) they are way more friendly and outgoing. Will call, text, or talk to me about whatever whenever.

My personal theory is that preselection bias only works if the woman doing the observing considers the woman who did the preselecting equally or more attractive than herself. In other words, his woman's "league" matters.

Also being married doesn't seem like anything special preselection-wise because it's so incredibly common, it's more about the quality of the married guy himself

I’m currently separated (should be divorced in a few months) but I wore my band to a job interview, as it helps in those situations.

Not sure I’d still do the same once divorced officially l, kinda seems like lying
