We were married 6 years. I gave her my everything. The amount of anger and sadness I'm feeling daily is insurmountable. Yes, I'm in therapy and leaning on friends/family, but nothing can fill this void that's been left.

My wife cheated on me with her boss. I wanted to do marriage counseling to try to fix things, but her alternative proposal was instead that we should open the marriage and "spend some time apart and live as single adults". I noped the fuck out, as it became immediately clear I don't know this woman anymore.

It's been almost a month since I found out. I've since packed the few things I can verifiably say are mine, and moved back to my hometown. Currently living in my uncle's guest bedroom. Thankfully, I work remote so that hasn't been affected.

We don't have kids, which I'm also extremely thankful for. We are doing an "amicable" divorce, and have already signed the terms and submitted them to the court.

Alot of people are saying I got off easy - and I would absolutely concur. But that doesn't alleviate the deep pain and sense of lost time. We were college sweethearts, have lived in multiple states together, traveled Europe, we have the same taste in music and food, sense of humor, even similar hobbies. I really thought we'd be together forever.

The idea of her being secretly unhappy - so much as to go behind my back with another man - actually makes me sick. I thought I knew her. She was my best friend and the only thing I knew for certain in this life. She was my everything. I would have believed the earth turned out to be flat before the reality of what transpired.

I'm so lost. Thanks for listening to my gibberish
