Isn't this just the alpha-widow theory but gender reversed? I'm pretty sure anyone can get emotionally attached to someone and be unable to move on regardless of gender.

Throughout history there's been no shortage of men & women recounting the one who got away.

Its because women have more social support and overall emotional regulation skills. It's not that men fall more deeply in love, they dont; they just have fewer relationships to fall back on and generally less coping skills.

I know a couple guys who are STILL bitter over their high school girlfriend breaking up with them in their 30s. They're not emotionally attached, they don't love their ex still, they're just stuck in a negative loop that they usually extend to all other women by default.

Based on my experience I think it’s true that men are more emotionally monogamous, consider that we have more to lose when a relationship ends. My last relationship ended in August and I still have no shot at another. That means no more sex, no more companionship. So naturally with more to lose we get more attached.

Gender roles in dating got flipped last dozen years, didn't used to be like this. Guys want to fall in love, girls want to keep their options open. Girls are now the players, juggling boyfriends, dating for a few weeks then dumping him when they get bored. Dating a guy who's a simp for her, he thinks she's exclusive, she's cheating behind his back.

Guys if they have the opportunity to become players, they did so because a girl broke his heart while he was in love with her. Now they are fboys because they don't want to go through with that anymore, because they know how single girls are these days.

When I'm on a date with a girl, I'm hoping she will become my girlfriend. Here's what happens, she still does her ex. Already has 2+ guys she's dating. Hooks up with hot guys, and is looking forward to new dates from guys she follows on instagram and matches on dating apps.

Girls don't desire monogamy these days, they just know they have to do it eventually to get what they want from the man. Modern dating girl will end up accidentally falling in love, she isn't looking for it at all.

The fact women file for divorce at twice the rate men do is consistent with your thesis, though there are certainly other reasons at play for that such as financial motivations.

Men are also sexually more monogamous than women. Women get bored of sex with the same person after 1 year whilst for men they usually lose sexual enjoyment after 12 years if never.

Also the initiators of open marriages are 2/3 of the time women.

yeah, but thats because women can not bond anymore because of body count and them often getting with men for exploitative and shallow reasons cause of abundance of choice. men who have high body counts move on easily.

yeah, because of lack of options. they would not be this attached if they had the abundance that women have.

no, you are thinking about men who might look good and have high value attributes, but those men dont necessarily have that many options. for a man to have options, has has to be popular, good looking enough, be shameless, and be somewhat sociopathic. high value doesnt mean lots of options, its just significantly more than non high value men, but not nearly as many as women.

Women manipulate the guys they date to emotionally invest in them. That’s why it’s kinda scary dating guys who have a lot of exes, they’re extremely and irreversibly manipulated. I was glad my bf only had one ex when we met and he always talks shit about her looks and personality lol

I think this emotional monogamy is dead even between men and women.

It just stands out more because men naturally scan for new sexual partners more and are a little more likely to cheat.

I think guys are more emotionally monogamous but it’s mostly tied to the fact that relationships and sex for the average man is not as common. If any average guy could casually have sex whenever we’d be far more indifferent than women ever could be.

A lot of red pillers like to make the claim that men are naturally polygamous and like to spread their seed, have a variety of women because it’s just their nature and lot of them used it to justify cheating/ affairs. That's because as l've said many times, humans by nature are religiously monogamous and preferably promiscuous

Most guys are just never gonna have the resources/status to explore a variety of women

Instead they grow up with the soul-mate myth
