I don’t think this guy deserves years of jail time and I would much rather just see him get some help. But a lot of the comments here lack perspective imo. He waited for her in a place with no other people then just walked up and touched her without saying anything. She apparently said stop I believe. Then, he freaking does it another time. Just walks up and touches her knowing it was unwanted and they were alone. At that point she likely thinks he’s stalking her. Having social anxiety is not an excuse to freak someone the fuck out.

Ok. You need to take the source into consideration- it's the fucking daily mail. They are famous for being racist and sexist. Oh yeah and they also supported Hitler. So this source is biased in their reporting. Why do they say the guy worked in a charity shop? Because they want you to like him and think the girl is overreacting.

The girl was by herself. She is not familiar with this guy- people don't touch each other in the UK. The way she described his body language makes him seem creepy. The case ending in a jail sentence is ridiculous but he made a minor feel violated. She didn't want to engage in conversation with him and he forced her to interact.

He is an adult and she is under 18.

If you actually read the article, and assuming what the girl’s saying is accurate, then this Griffiths guy was being creepy, and he was executing the art of seduction totally wrong. However, definitely doesn’t deserve to face 10 years and a place on the register, and be grouped into the same category as people who grope women and pedophiles etc.
