Never thought of it before but it’s a pretty valid point and does feel oddly gender specific. I’ve never once heard someone call a woman a loser or weirdo. Not to say they don’t have words that are gender specific or hurtful like slut but goddam you made an interesting point.

Not just to attract a mate. A man who is struggling financially is considered a loser. A man who cannot afford to pay alimony and child support is by large considered a loser who should go to jail while a woman who can't pay is doing her best and should be helped asap.

If you are referring to relationships or society, a man is a loser is he doesn’t worship women and give her money (winning) and is a loser if he doesn’t worship productivity and give the government money, and is a loser is he doesn’t produce in excess for the capitalist and give the boss man money.

That’s because first and foremost a lot of people judge men’s worth in how much they can provide or benefit from their association with this. This is also imo that it’s totally acceptable to make gendered hateful statements ie ‘small penis’ jokes or if you watch on tv there is a total common practice attacking a man’s sexual organs ie kick/taser to balls, threat to castrate if you cheat or whatever (it would and should never be acceptable to condone violence especially sexual violence. if you flipped the role and some man was talking about mutilating some woman’s genitals simply bc they were angry they cheated or whatever most people would rightly be outraged yet they are blind to this sick threat/action bc it’s targeted towards a harming a man. Even if it’s the worst of bad guys on a show, why do we need to attack someone’s genitals? That reflects a sickness in the attacker the same way torture or rape does. Normal people should not be ok with these things in any form. Also it would never be culture acceptable for women to be the target of even comments like ‘if she’s not a certain height or weight or doesn’t make enough money or literally show me enough respect (open doors, pay for all meals and dates, and read their mind to know all their likes/wants and knowledge so that you aren’t ‘mansplaining’etc) then I wouldn’t even give them the time of day. Imagine if a man had coffee cups that said ‘woman tears’ on it? That guy would be seen as a complete asshole (rightly so). That’s pretty sick. But I f you ruffle their feathers you instantly are labeled a total POS whereas any statements like ‘all men are pigs’ or ‘all men insert insult’ are heard constantly in almost every medium. If a male gyno is telling a female how to care for her own body, that’s mansplaining in some peoples opinion. Forget the fact that you don’t know what someone else knows, I use that example because back in the day when hospitals in USA were mainly owned by religious institutions and most drs were male so what these female patients were not told by the male doctors was how to care for their bodies during pregnancy simply because it was seen as improper religiously to have even a male dr talk about a woman’s sex organs and reproductive care. Once the information was finally told to women infant mortality was drastically reduced, women had much better health overall, pregnancy wasn’t as dangerous as before (though it still is quite hard and dangerous even today on a persons body). It’s totally unacceptable (and should be for all) for any other group to be generalized the way men are routinely but for some reason when it’s making terrible statements about all men in general it’s totally acceptable and widely practiced even on mainstream channels (and so is the constant genitalia attacking/belitting/threatening) etc and I think perpetuates gender and race issues for it to be so widespread that you have even news anchors adding to it.

Fair point. It makes sense since men are competitive by nature so we see things in terms of winning and losing. Someone who is consistently performing sub par activities would earn the label 'loser' by the fact that they lose a lot.

There are terms for women who are sub par as well. Typically whore or slut come to mind. I assume this is because it's more difficult to not fall to temptation than it is to get fucked by lots of dudes.

People respect someone who overcomes a challenge. The label loser is for someone who does not overcome challenges and lives their life to the status quo.

The funny thing is that they don't look into the mirror and disgust themselves like a man would. One of them had 3 lovers, fell in love with one, resisted her husband's speech that he was just trying to get sex from her out of hubris, then took the kid from the home she grew up in - which was fully paid for, by him - and put the baby in an occupied apartment and They're going to trial for it. Yep, they're squatters. There's no heating, the shower doesn't work and she still has the guts to call him for repairs and uses my friend as an emotional tampon to talk about how bad the other guy is who didn't deliver on his promises and obviously she's the victim.

It's possible this is due to the difference in how the insult is perceived by each sex. The purpose of an insult is to rile up the target so it makes sense to use something the target thinks is demeaning. Take racial slurs for example, people don't generally use them against anyone other than the targeted race because they aren't all that effective against other races.
