I see this often on other subs where people will talk about how their ex moved on, and will start posting photos immediately with their new partner, with captions like, "feeling happy" or, "been happy" and then it's a photo with their new partner. It's always a sting to the ex. I always had a personal observation that almost always: it's not true because an actual happy person wouldn't have the need for validation or to "tell" people on social media that they are in fact happy.

Lately it's been happening with a friend of mine for e.g, she is absolutely head burried deep in ice cream, sex and the city turned on all day, and hoodies only while couch stuck. Why? Because her ex posted up their new girlfriend, showing off the recent fun times with their new SO, cheesy captions of, "so happy" while the new partner is all like, "<3" ... I tell her, don't worry, they will be back and I can bet money on it, because despite this dude having a new girl, he has the need to still watch my friend when she posts a story. Doesn't matter what time, he's always watching, and it's "more" than the assumption of "just bored" watching, because when she removed him, he immediately took notice, and got irritated with her, saying he has in fact a great life, meaning he was evidently manually checking her profile constantly and lurking and even "weeks" before he had this new girlfriend, he was wanting to hit the sheets with my friend, and the dude can't handle being alone.

I tell my friend all the time, social media is fake, and nobody will post their miserable moments, bad days, etc. It's so curated that we only see all the perfect moments, and why people have the very need to edit their photos to the point of being unrecognisable and it applies to relationships too.

It's so interesting, have you ever had the need to tell people on your socials you're "so happy" specifically because you're now in a relationship? What do you guys think of this subject?
