My Ex somehow found a lawyer who was willing to petition to the court to modify child support and write her down as 0$ in income. The petition doesn't even include a reason for this.

*Background*

We finalized last year in May. She remarried 3 months later and got pregnant the same day with him. She is a high school teacher for living. We share custody of 3 kids. She just had her baby in March and went on FMLA. She had her summer paid out to her in advance and is now on FMLA until the next school year starts with zero income from her job.

She texted me and asked me to check my email. There it was... the petition and I have 20 days to dispute it or it goes into effect. My current CS obligation is $1100 and this petition will raise it to $2100. When I asked her about it she said its only for the 3 months of summer until her income is back and then we will change it again. So I am just supposed to be at her mercy to change it back...

I immediately went to an attorney and he told me he has been doing family law for a long time now and he had to admit this is a first for him. He has no idea how she even found a lawyer who was willing to do this for her. Technically this isn't even legal from a law standpoint because he said she didn't even include a reason for change in the motion. If I wanted to I could make her pay my lawyer fees for disputing it because of that. But I have my kids 30% of the time currently and I recently got a new job that would allow for me to have them 50% of the time. So when he reviewed my situation he was like... you realize you have an excellent case for 50/50 custody if you want it. He predicts I have over a 90% chance at it so I am going to counter petition for 50/50 custody. She stirred the hornets nest and is going to lose A LOT trying to be greedy. I hope she gets buried in legal fees. I am doing fine financially and I know she is not because she is a shopaholic.

NO I am not paying an extra $1000 a month simply because she was stupid enough to have another baby with another man. Why would I be the one to pay the bills for her child? Her level of entitlement is off the charts. Thank you for reading. Just had to do this rant and get it off my chest.
