There are all kinds of reasons people get divorced (and stay married). And lots of layers to the “why”. In my case there are the usual reasons we split: bad communication, disconnects in needs (both physical and emotional). No overt abuse or infidelity. But, there’s this extra thing that I realized I was bi, if not just maybe outright gay (but definitely more attracted to women than men). And my ex just seemed to totally want to ignore that last bit. To me, even if we could have fixed all the other stuff, this last hurdle seemed to be a big one. How could he willingly overlook that? I feel if the situation were reversed and he came to me with the same concern, I wouldn’t be able to ignore it to the point of not even talking about it.
