I AM NOT AN ATTORNEY. mediation in a no fault state in as I am in; my personal experience and wife agreed. A $5,000 farce. Wife filed and have son-in-law lawyer not practicing but corporate counsel and not licensed in my no-fault state.

FL has a model Simplified Divorce Statute. No lawyers unless minor children. . Wife filed after dragging her feet for a year. She wanted me to file. Nope. Did not want divorce after fifty years at 69. Left to be with “Busy” important job daughter has to take care of our two little grandchildren.

We have two special need adopted adult children . Simple Divorce is over and done. At our age we have a very nice paid home 25 years raised family and two adopted with me. Crushed beyond belief as she left and never returned.

Simple Divorce is a statutory option used in majority of cases with no minors. Kids or adult children are zero factor. (Another issue) but lawyer son-in-law said I was an adversary and don’t told wife to not speak with me. BAD ADVICE. Going into year 4. $50,000 down drain. Mediation a JOKE. Yes great option for some.but mistake for us. . Her lawyer told her 50/50 is the deal if we go to court. Although of all statutes in a no-fault state the judge has much power in deciding the split AFTER he hears both stories. So Her lawyer said will be 50/50 the day they met! What? Mediation arrives it was 3 hours wife and I don’t get to speak only mediator and two lawyers. They came back what 60/40 favoring me. I said no. It was a Friday. Wife and I spoke over week-end and wrote the settlement at 75/25. Why, I have adopted children she does not want, she added zero dollars to income as did not work at all. And she did not “abandon” but “deserted”us and only took joint check book and my access to retirement accounts. With respect to the many many fine compassionate attorney’s reading, ours were about stretching out the hours. Over $50,000 and that was just to get to mediation. So after wife and I wrote an acceptable agreement. I fired my lawyer and went pro se Representing myself and she retained hers. Her lawyer submits next month the final documents. All done. So if in no fault and on speaking terms with spouse just be aware of this option and see if it fits your situation. Possibly save money doing Simple Divorce if you can and done in month, Use a certified divorce CPA. And be chill. Emotions will derail you.

Most of the billionaire divorces are financial agreements where spouse takes some assets and MOST liabilities and the rich dude gets most of the assets and no liabilities. Its a divorce on paper and in social media, they are still very much married in person

This is more about money than divorce, those guys are in entirely different league of finances they lose millions and turnaround sneeze and make millions it’s entirely different ball game. Im sure behind closed doors they suffer but PR is probably worth its own weight in gold. Plus so much of this is based on your state. Ultimately man its on us for not being idiots when it comes to our choices, like prenups should be normalized and if she has a problem with it bye bye

They might but not maybe in the way you’d want. One of the objectives of the framers of Project 2025 is to eliminate no fault divorce. They don’t say it explicitly, but they often talk about how pro-LGBT policies caused a decline in the nuclear family. Since divorce laws are state laws, cabinet leads like Duffy are instituting policies which prioritize transportation funding based on marriage and birth rates. Trump’s tax plan involves eliminating the Head of Household filing status, for similar reasons. I’m not a big fan of theocracy myself.

My hot take is that the bias against men in the courts is a byproduct of a misogynistic culture.

When we collectively view women as less than, view parenting as “women’s work”, and make being a successful businesswoman more challenging than being a businessman (either through bias, assumptions about childcare responsibilities, and horrible paid family leave policies) then one side effect is good men that want to be involved in their children’s lives and don’t want to be robbed via alimony get f*cked.

I think the path towards fairer courts for men is a more equitable and inclusive society. Trump, Musk, etc. do not believe in this. And they have too much money to care about our plights. To paraphrase Chris Rock: “If you make $50M and your wife wants half, you’re doing just fine. But if you make $50k…”

I continue to be a staunch feminist even though my ex weaponized all systems she could against me. Men wholly created the systems she was able to take advantage of through her wickedness.
