No need for specifics.

Is it at all common for women to hide elements of their sexuality from their partner? Things they like, types of men they like, acts they like. Because of taboo nature or fear of disapproval from their partner?

Its obvious to most observers, that most or a large portion of men have "secret sexual basements" that they keep to themselves largely. Either because their partners would disapprove of them (thus limiting the mans access to the kinds of women he wants) or their partners would have no interest in them (so theirs very little benefit to bringing them up and destabilizing the relationship).
