Yup... to most women, marriage is a checkbox...something they do after college when all their friends are doing it. Its no wonder that people in their late 20s/early 30s have the "round robin weddings" for a while because those weddings coincide directly with the "clique" of the girls they are friends with. One gets engaged and suddenly, the others in the group are hard up to get engaged.

5-10 years later the same thing happens with divorces...usually the first in the group who got married gets a divorce and then talks up how liberating it is to all her friends and sure as shit, the dominoes fall.

I married a real born and raised Sicilian woman, they don't believe in divorce and while we do a lot of shit 50/50 she still believes that as a man I cant clean worth a shit and cant cook (I can do both she wont let me) she's beyond fucking loyal. While this is highly important to women, I disagree that it's the number one reason for marriage.

Let's back up a bit to explain.

Men on average are superior to women in almost every form of achievement imaginable. Men are taller, stronger, faster, smarter etc etc etc. Women are also the one's who have the babies.

These two factors of human biology result in women needing men for their basic survival.

Without government, an individual woman must find herself an individual man to protect her and provide for her. She needs him for her survival. Without him she'll die. She'll go from the care of her father, directly into the care of her husband.

Today we have government who taxes men collectively (almost every net tax payer is a man) and translates that into collective protection in the form of an ever growing police state and collective provision in the form of an ever growing welfare state.

These give women the illusion of being strong and independent and not needing a man.

Only within this context are you right. Now that real threats of life have been taken care of by the government, now it's possible for social validation to be her number one concern.

While she tries to wear the mask of a resilient, overcoming individual, deep inside whatever friends/acquaintances/"society" tells her leaves a profound emotional mark. There goes "Strong" through the window.

As her image she projects seems more important that achieving actual happiness in her life, she'll change to adapt to whatever stupid trend or paradigm this rotten world compells her to, like clay in the hands of the potter. I believe it is really dependent on the city and the background of both the male and female with regards to educational background, number of children etc. I live In Seattle. Admittedly, it is very expensive to live in with almost no nightlife, etc. However, Seattle has GREAT PAYING JOBS for degreed professionals from all over the World. Our minimum wage is the highest in the Us, and our unemployment pay is second only to Massachusetts. As a behavioral economist from Sloan, and after having lived in SJ, SF and Seattle, I have come to the conclusion that: the more expensive the city someone lives in, the more likely it is, they make over 100k per year (male or female), most often with no children other than animal children.

If you Google this, Seattle statistics, you will find that it has the most number of college degrees per capita relative to other large cities, as well as the highest numbers of unmarried over 30. Almost everyone I know in Seattle is either single or married with young children and 37-42 years old.

I think this column/string is very dependent on what city and what socioeconomic background people come from. There is obviously, reporting bias expressed here. I.E. people who live in expensive cities and make good money working their asses off after 6-8 yrs of college, don't have time to post on Reddit after the birth of their children.

All those men /women commenting on women not wanting "nice men" seem like a collection of mostly Incels who either: 1) immigrants- who were likely babied by their family because they were the only male children in their family: or 2) Aspergers or video game/sci-fi guys with no interpersonal skills who feel bitter that they aren't able to translate their actual good intentions and interest in a committed relationship into conversation and relations with women.

Life is a bell curve of individual performance. If you approached this from a perspective of animals; a lot of people wouldn't be alive. Some (to most) animal mothers eat/or push heir babies ut of the survival range in situations. Regularly, animals find ways to remove babies they perceive as genetically-flawed. By doing this, they are able to focus all sustenance, protection etc . on the rest of their litter. Humans may be replicating this using, systemic, developmental, or socio-economic parameters.

The last section: The accessibility of porn videos and images has resulted in lots of small -thinking immature individuals deciding that "normal" female bodies are now, less than "what they deserve!

I think the accessibility of porn and even soft-core Avatars with their perfectly enhanced/ photoshopped/CGI bodies has led to the disillusionment of lesser-thinking/performing individuals. Because they are somewhat fascinated by the images, they start believing that this shape is somehow naturally acquired. Many celebrity bodies have come about because of $150k+ in surgery. It is very sad when a low IQ man (or woman) renders these absolute physical forms as "normal".
