"hurt" is pretty vague, but out of 100 men i'm much much more likely to be harassed by more of them than i am to be helped. i get harassed all day in the summer and i dont remember the last time a man i don't know helped me

For the sake of your question, I'll ignore that most people are a mix, and anyway too self involved to care either way.

In general, men are good. It is a small minority, maybe 5-10% who are generally harmful.

However, this is basically irrelevant because human brains don't process trauma and good things equally. Your brain is wired with the primary objective of keeping you alive, and as such avoiding harm is much more important than finding aid.

If one man rapes you, and another arrests the rapist and takes you to the hospital, only one of those men will be in your nightmares for the rest of your life.

Neither random men are mostly interested in women in terms of whether they can bang them or not and in achieving that goal they might either hurt or help to get what they want. But if I have to pick one....hurt. Not hurt me personally not hurt goat but if I am in the way of something they want or just there at an opportune time I am just a mass of cells to them.

The attractiveness of the woman is an important variable in the equation. Men are probably more like to either help OR hurt a very attractive woman! Middle-aged matrons like myself tend to fly under radar ... no one bothers us much either way. :-)

There varying shades of grey when it comes to hurting. If you mean maliciously or violently, probably only 5-10%, if that. However, quite a larger percentage would put their own needs before mine even if they were aware that the outcome would be me being hurt. And another percentage I wouldn’t cross their minds at all.

The men I know are more likely to hurt or help me. Because they can hurt me emotionally in ways a stranger can't, which is more likely than me being physically assaulted.

The percentage of random men that would hurt me for whatever reason is probably very low. Like 1 out of 100 men. I mean think of how many people you come across in a day, and how none of them hurt or help you.

Random men? I'd expect at least 95% to hurt me if I was at their complete mercy and they could do whatever they wanted without repercussions. I also think I'm being generous with only 95%.

Thankfully I stay away from shitty men and my interactions with them are overwhelmingly positive.

I would say 95% of men would hurt me and the remaining 5% would help or save me.

I just stay away from them or if I have to interact then I make sure I have my phone with me or someone nearby.

It depends on who you are. I very much hit guys in the “protective instincts” balls - mostly because I’m small and bright and young looking, like a Disney character’s little sister. I’m the kind of girl most men have been socialized to want to help - and I’ve definitely reaped those rewards, from simple things (asking strangers to get things off of high shelves) to harder ones (changing my tire when I blew a flat). It’s definitely not related to sexual attraction in my case: most often it’s fatherly types that help me, and they make it extremely obvious that their attention is far from sexual.

100% of men are dangerous to me in the right circumstances. the vast bulk of men are innately more dangerous AND more EFFECTIVELY dangerous than the vast bulk of women

two things - neither and it depends on me. If i read them carefully and see what their vulnerabilities are, they are less likely to hurt me. If i open up quickly and reveal my weaknesses, in my experience, a good percentage may take advantage. However the vast majority would do neither. People have their own shit, men and women, and are apathetic to others.

Men are always helpful so long as you don't let them get to close.

Let them help you once or twice and then stop talking to them. In a weird way, this is almost why I prefer strange men over men I might see again.

The strange man helps me change my tire or find my way or something and then he's gone. He's not around long enough to become expectant.

In what context? Most of them would not try to rape me, most of them would probably help me carry a heavy object up a flight of stairs. But in the context of developing a sexual or romantic relationship, I'd say at least 80 would be more likely to hurt me.

Oh of course you're not interested in the guys who neither help nor hurt, despite the fact they are the majority.

Men are less likely to help me because in general I've got that shit covered and I'm not asking for help, not looking like I need help, I'm fine kthx. If I need to move something heavy I have a trolley with me or I've hired someone, etc. I put lots of effort into being just fine and self sufficient. Whereas the guys who will hurt me... I've been followed down the street, I've had my door knocked on by a guy trying to get in, when I was a kid my mother was dated by a guy who had me in his sights.

By the way, I don't count the efforts of the police or of medical professionals or the fire brigade or any of those sorts of professionals as helping attributable to any one gender. All that shit is bought and paid for. Just like the waitress at the diner ain't doing jack for me just because she's a woman... she brings me that pork roll and diet coke because she gets paid. The nurse who saw to my needs after I had my gallbladder out... she was getting paid too, helping me was not a girl thing it was a money thing. If a guy comes out and changes a tyre for me because I've got RAA roadside assist, that's my money helping me by buying something his employer sells, it isn't some special volunteer helping service provided because he's a dude.

I don't count things people do for each other within families either. All that shit's reciprocal and private, and happens because of a specific relationship.

I think when it comes down to it, I've been hurt or there have been solid attempts to work out how to hurt me maybe about the same, possible more often by men than I have been helped by them. Even if you count little things... things people in general do like not letting the bus door slam in the face of the person behind them... then you gotta count little hurts from guys too like the drunk cricket fans being obnoxious and intrusive on the bus.

Now maybe if I lived in a world where I was not allowed to earn my own money and not allowed to do countless other things I do to take care of myself, I would have to rely upon men to help me and more of them would help me because I would be boo hoo hoo I'm just an ickle girlie. I'd also have to open myself up more to the hurting sorts of interactions with guys. No thanks.

25% would hurt me. 50% would help me with minor things like hold the door or buy me a drink. 25% would help me move or listen to a personal problem. Overall, I think men are more likely to help me. That said, I think the psychos are really psycho.

I dont know about the numbers but I believe that most men would help rather than harm. That has been my experience with life. There are also a lot of guys who will do neither. But I dont believe that most guys are threats (though the fact that every guy is a possible threat can be scary at times).

That depends. Men are much more helpful than women are when giving advice, whether it be with girls or anything else in life, because we are used to having thick skin and being blunt.

That said if you’re going after the same girl men can absolutely be weasels.

Ironically in my experience I find that beta types are actually worse with the above. Alpha males might be more confrontational and assertive, but will happily give advice on things in life. Makes them feel good. Betas snivel around behind your back

Hurt you in what sense? You mean like break up with you and cheat on you? Or do you mean physically harm you.

Break your heart: out of 100 totally depends on you and the people you date. If you're very attractive and you only date very attractive men. Chances are a lot of them will cheat. There are just way too many variables here to give any answer worth a damn.

Injure you physically: I think that number is actually rather small. Most men I know are not violent especially towards women. Most men have to be drunk and insulted in order to get into a real physical altercation. They have to be egged on even worse to injure a significant other. THERE ARE DEFINITELY MEN WHO DO. But not nearly as many as some people make it out to be.
