IMHO the best way to be alpha is to stand up to bullies (even after high school). Recently I was loading boxes of files behind the local courthouse annex. I was blocking the new Assistant District Attorney's parking spot and he threw a fit. He's obviously a guy who's used to getting his way and he was being a real ass about it. He's also huge, at least 6'5" and 275 lbs and most likely on TRT. That makes him an inch or two taller than me and about 70 pounds heavier. He got out of his huge SUV and walked toward me in a menacing manner. I put the box I was carrying in the hatch of my Prius. But rather than getting into my car and scurrying away I approached him took a somewhat relaxed but ready stance right in front of him and proceeded to tell him how inappropriately he was behaving. He looked surprised as shit and got back into his SUV.

My new GF watched this and was quite impressed. I should note that none of this was planned. I just reacted.

I'm not sure what is the most alpha thing I've ever done. But your question did make me remember a funny moment from my travels:

I was on Santorini and I met two girls in my hotel. They were friends from Singapore who were traveling together. Shortly after we started shooting the shit, they complained that some "creepy" guys were following them. Sure enough, the two creepy guys eventually arrive and approach. The girls make "god dammit" faces. I went full white knight mode, stepped in front of them in a relaxed pose and said something like "what's up, buddy? You have something to say to us?" And just stared them down. They said something I didn't catch and left shortly after. The girls thanked me and later that evening and the following morning, I hooked up with the one I fancied.

I'm not saying what I did was alpha in the slightest, but I thought it was lulzy and the girl seemed really into me afterwards, so hey. Her friend didn't even make an attempt to cockblock.

You know thinking it over a little, probably when I met my current girlfriend for the first time.

We first got talking on Fetlife so I knew what she was into. When we met I was ultra confident and took control of everything the whole time, "made" her do whatever I want, etc etc and I won't go into too much details because it'd be nsfw but the point is she loved it and has been obsessed with me ever since.

I know that comes off a humbrag but it's hard not to given the question.

Point is though (and here's the anti-humbrag) I am not usually like that. Not at all. In fact with girls in the past I was quite shy while trying to play that role and had to overcome it. But with her it felt natural and I didn't even need to try at all.

Still don't to this day. I actually do get "more alpha" I guess around her, not to put on a mask but just because it comes naturally. That's our chemistry.

Nothing too major. At most I can control the flow of a conversation and talk about gym habits or other "guy stuff" and tell some crazy stories.

Alpha is very much a state. It's a thing the people around you confer to you rather than a thing you can just take for yourself. I've been the alpha while being the least handsome or successful guy in the room. I've been the lowest status guy in the lowest status room. It's a relative title based on dynamics at that moment, only partially controlled by your actions.

I can't think of one big thing, but I've spent years not shying away from decisions, always owning up to my shit (and my mistakes), and generally trying to care about others and lift them up.

Best compliment I've ever received was from a friend, who told me randomly that if there ever was a war, he hoped I would be the one in command above him. He couldn't think of anybody better to trust his life with.

Seriously, I read this thread, went to do my stuff, remember things and think, came back, understood I still got nothing to say, and it took me probably 3 or 4 "comebacks" here to understand that I never did or wanted to do something "alpha". And among "normal" things that I did, I can't categorize any of them as "more alpha" or "less alpha".

Three things stand out, all pretty lame. This should give a sense of how fucking beta I am. You'll note that none of these resulted in sex and mostly only impressed other dudes.

My city has a bad problem with asshole cyclists disobeying all rules of the road. I was crossing a crosswalk on foot, with the walk sign, when a cyclist going in the perpendicular direction starts to blow through the intersection against a red light. He's hurtling toward me and I stare him down and bark "Hey! You have a red light!" The guy stops and I keep walking. Some aging hippie guy walking behind me with his hippie girlfriend tells me I'm his hero.
In grad school I happened to run into a student of mine for whom I used to be a teaching assistant. I'm walking and chatting with him as we pass a pickup soccer game happening on a patch of grass on campus. Someone makes a stray pass and the ball goes flying onto the walkway adjacent to the field, right in front of me. I used to play soccer at a relatively high level (one step away from getting paid a little bit of money to play), so without breaking stride I casually control the ball in the air with my feet, juggle it two or three times, and then loft it back to the dude who made the errant pass. My former student wasn't gay, but judging from his reaction, he would have made an exception for me at that moment.
I've broken up a couple of bar fights, but it's not like I inserted myself into a pier six brawl with fists flying and shit. One time it was just pulling apart two guys (one friend and one rando) who had each other in a mutual chokehold. Another time it was talking a rando out of fighting an acquaintance (but not a friend) of mine who was hitting on his gf. Tbh this acquaintance was a huge douche and I wanted to see him get his ass kicked, but it felt wrong not to do anything to try to stop it.

In high school, this guy wanted to fight me because I called my mom a bitch in some anti-bullying seminar. Not his mom, my mom (which she is, to be fair). He started that shit and was like "I know Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, I could kick your ass". There were actually people who thought he could, he hyped himself up a lot.

He threw a punch and I dodged it, took him down easily, and grounded and pounded. He ended up having to get checked up at the hospital, and sorta snitched on me cuz he followed these 2 girls who escorted him to the school office right after the fight (when he could've walked home). The principal was pissed, especially because that same day of the fight an anti-bullying seminar was just given. I ended up getting suspended, but luckily my mom was on a trip to the other side of the world, and it was just me and my chill(er) dad living at home. The suspension was like a mini-vacation from school, and I finally got a chance to play Halo 3 non-stop (I'd never played an FPS before that game, so it was something special).

That's probably not the most alpha thing I did, but it's the one that came to mind first. That suspension, and all the props and respect I got after the fight, that era was one of the best times of my life.
