My husband's looks are... polarizing, I guess. When we first met and I was crushing hard on him, about half of my girlfriends were like "Ooh yeah he's cute" and the other half were like "That guy? Really?"

He's not ugly by any means but I don't think he's what comes to mind when most people think "conventionally attractive man." He's attractive to me and that's all that matters. A lot of "conventionally attractive" guys don't do it for me anyway.

My husband is 6’4” and has lifted massive pieces of equipment in the name of art for the last 20 years. He has been shaving his head since he was 17 when he started losing his hair. He has a massive beard and thinks he’s the shit. I don’t really care if other people find him attractive, I wanna climb him like a tree.

But when I met him I felt no attraction to him. None of his features stood out and he would make faces that looked really ugly.

Getting to know him made me value what he looks like.

And he's objectively not ugly I just had weird priorities when I was young.

I've dated/been attracted to people who were, by conventional standards, kind of iffy looking. I was attracted to who they were, and part of loving them was loving the way they looked - she had long, beautiful eyelashes and these gorgeous, plush lips (and she was meticulous about lip scrubs, so they were always soft), or the way the sunlight slanted into his eyes reminded me of honey and he had such a strong jaw and lovely clear skin and always smelled nice.

Which is to say: when I love someone I can always find something to be gross and sappy and overly poetic about, just like I can always find something wrong with the face of someone I don't love. Having dated conventionally unattractive people, I can't say I was any less in love with them than I was while dating an Insta/actual editorial model. My last boyfriend was extremely normal looking, by all accounts, and I loved him very very much.

My ex boyfriend looked like a model in pictures. Mexican, green eyes, strong jawline IN PICTURES God damn he was better at my space angles than me. It was odd because I was attracted to him but sometimes I couldn't help but think about how he was built like an iphone 4 or how his dick was small while we were fucking. But sometimes I would find myself horny at the sight of him, even if just 3 seconds ago I was like Damn.. he kinda ugly.

My guy is gorgeous, inside and out. He's the guy where all my girlfriends ask if he has a brother. Or proposition us for threesomes. Sometimes both.

He's tall, sharp featured, and had the most amazing ice blue eyes. I routinely climb him like a tree (literally and figuratively) and I'm super lucky to have him.

Most of the people I've had long sexual relationships with I would not consider aesthetically pleasing but I consider aesthetic human beings rare and in general something that almost only seems to be found on the internet probalby heavily photoshopped and even then the average house cat looks better to be honest.

Human beings just aren't that aesthetic compared to some other animals or pants or I don't know works of art which were artificially created to be as aesthetic as possible—I don't get the hype.

I don't think my man is unnattractive. I think he's short , and sometimes I think it would be nicer if he was taller so he could reach things better, but thats not making him less attractive, it's just lest practical for in-the-home things. Step stool are great.

He’s hot but 5’9” (I think he’d say 5’10”) but guys always add an extra inch.

So he’s too short for a lot of women so my mom complains but it’s like why the fuck do I need to make sure the majority of women find him attractive? All that matters is that he boils MY blood.
