Oooh yes my ex was diagnosed with both and it was a mess. Th borderline was waaay more problematic than the bipolar imo.

He was a passionate hot tortured artist type, took a lot of pride in how deep and complicated he was. ENFP too, so just so many feels flying everywhere all the time. It was fun when it was good, but so exhausting.

He spent his life chasing emotion and intensity. Bonded really tight to me initially, then when things settled down a bit he'd take off and do a typical BPD binge of booze, drugs and sex. He'd come back and bond even tighter until the next time. He was super promiscuous and cheated a lot at the end, justifying it with feelz. "I was lonely, we had such an intense connection! Yeah I cheated but I feel like I really learnt about myself, you know?" Nothing was ever his fault, emotions reigned supreme and he didn't see any issue with that.

I'd advise girls to casually date BPD guys, they're great for an intense short term fling, but they're far too self absorbed for a normal serious relationship.

My dad has bipolar 2, which is characterized by intense depression and hypomanic episodes. He doesn't experience full blown mania, so it's much more sad and less angry/energetic/risky. His condition is such that he can't work.

He and my mom have been married for 36 years. It's been a hard fucking time for everyone involved. Their relationship is pretty far from healthy, but holy shit they're still going.

He managed it by himself for most of his life, but broke down at about age 47. He's 62 now. There are probably lots of men out there with severe problems like this just hacking it until they can't take it anymore. I believe it's safe to say that a great number of them are partnered up, but they probably don't often stay that way.

As for BPD, I dunno. It's more common in women, but overly dramatic people are often very attractive to other dramatic or co-dependent types.

Borderline guys are often abusive and will stalk you after you leave. They're the bad kind of crazy. All cluster-B's should be avoided, really.

My brother is diagnosed bipolar among other shit, he has 3 or 4 handlers in some outpatient thing

It mainly just means he is supposed to avoid alchohol, stims and needs to maintain a strict sleep schedule because his highs and lows are more extreme

Which is odd, because my drug tolerance and ability to remain lucid is insane and I sleep like a baby(my brother has some thyroid thing that fucks with his sleep). My girlfriend told me that I somehow I manage to always roll on anything I take, meanwhile her results vary

Isn't bipolar different than BPD? Borderline personality disorder is explosive and angry from my experience. I live with a guy who's borderline, he's getting better to some degree because, luckily, he has a support network...but he's not ready to have a legitimate girlfriend. His partner would live a nightmarish life trying to manage his daily narcissistic emotional turmoil.

I could never date a person with BPD. The appeasement is beyond me. I want a partner...an equal. I don't want someone where I have to constantly manage their emotions.

I know a few bipolar men and no one with Borderline Personality Disorder. (At least not diagnosed.) Bipolar has a few varieties though, and some people are more severely depressed than others. Most cannot hold jobs, but they do qualify for disability. It is a life-limiting condition.

I know two bi-polar men (that are "officially" bipolar, anyway). Sample size is way low, of course, but here's what I can tell you about them.

-Both are married, from appearances happily.

-They are both on meds and they take their meds and have rather strict schedules for certain things (one guy has a very particular sleep schedule, which helps him stay "normal", as he says).

-Both are very talented musicians (I am a musician, which is how I happened to meet them).

-Both are very religious Christians (in terms of themselves; they seem cool with other people doing their own thing.)

So yeah, I would imagine it depends on how well an individual manages his/her bipolarness.

BPD isn't attractive to women, so far as I've seen.

I think there's a reason there are more BPD females than males. Personally, I am fascinated by the theory that BPD is extreme female brain and that autism is extreme male brain. Makes way too much sense to me.

Bipolar disorder manifests in wildly different ways. My father and my sister were diagnosed with it, so I've seen it in men and women. I would also say that I probably display very minor characteristics of it.

Because it's so different, it's hard to say how successful a person with this disorder would be in dating. Some people would definitely do better for it - Manic episodes (which characterize the greater part of my own experience) are incredibly intoxicating, and that level of energy and confidence can loan the sufferer great swaths of charisma. This doesn't necessarily help in the long run, since this charisma lasts until the sufferer loops back into depression again, but it's helpful for getting through the door.

Sadly, because of the difficulty in staying on task or remaining within sane social boundaries (and not just... jumping in the back of a truck and riding it to the next state because you were manic and thought it'd be fun at the time), it can also cause strife in a relationship.

tl;dr Men and women seem to manifest bipolar disorder similarly that I've seen. It can help in getting relationships, but it will probably often be the reason they end as well.

I'm pretty unstable, but more neurotic than anything. That is changing though.

I would think the impulsivity would make bipolar men quite decent with women.

I've been diagnosed BPNOS.

I meet women, but mostly through Tinder. There's no real pattern in who I date in terms of race/ethnicity, height/weight, or style, although lately, I've been meeting a lot of artsy girls.

BPD men are so rare it'd be impossible to judge. Your talking like .3% of the population. Typically a male BPD would diagnose as ASPD.
