No, an addiction is spending 12 hours a day obsessing over beaded cross stitch kits, memorizing them, researching them, looking at pictures of them, talking about them and showing other people pictures of them and then spending over $70 on just 2 PDF charts(!) While already working in a $100 kit. Not that I know anyone like this

Neither, PPD and reddit in general are honestly just a fun distraction for me, and a way to play around with a few ideas of mine. I've never come away from the pillsphere with any knowledge that's enhanced my relationship or life (beyond reading some posts and being grateful that I'm not dating their authors.)

I have made some friends on here though, so from that perspective it's been useful.

I use PPD almost exclusively on Reddit. I rarely range very far from here.

Not sure why.

I generally use PPD as confirmation that most people don't know shit about people or how people with lives actually live and act.

Well at one point I thought PUA would increase my odds of attracting women I wanted. After 3 months of experimenting I concluded that PUA-specific stuff didn't do shit.

Instead I found new laughing stock.

PPD is particularly great for this as it's filled with non-Manospherians who put on a good show when they spar with the Manospherians.

I hesitate to call anything an addition on the internet (porn and video game addition is a pseudo-science) but I would say that the red pill sub is definitively harmful.

I see it more as something I do for the collectivity. Like some RP "gurus" take it as a personal duty to teach poor souls, I find it a good use of my skills to contribute to debates and make people "question what they believe". There's also a use for me in that it widens and clarifies my thoughts.

But yes, it's starting to have addictive traits. I should reduce.

PPD and Reddit in general are a distraction from life. I find it pretty addicting because it’s a way of “socialising” for an introvert like me.

Reading PUA stuff seriously shook me up some years ago. It was as though the BP foundation I was standing on was pulled out from under me. I view thinking about it now as a kind of therapy, to help me figure out in what ways BP is still viable. I really like attachment theory, for instance. I take it to mean that the RP dynamic happens between some people (anxious women and avoidant men) and not others (secure men and women.)

It provides me with the only place I've found where all this gender and relationship stuff is actually discussed honestly.

I probably don't need to be on here nearly this much, though. And I know it's a little weird that my escape from work and life involves arguing with people, many of them more or less misogynistic, about these questions.

I've only made a couple of comments here. I'm always looking for a good place to debate things like politics and gender issues, and reddit and in some ways the entire internet has devolved into a giant circle jerk where everyone stays inside their little bubbles and makes sure to not allow anyone in who ruins their agreeing party. So, it's completely impossible to find a good forum, and I saw this subreddit and it's at least a little bit that.
