If men actually did hate these women they would not be nearly so lenient with them.

Men are lenient with these types of women when they are hot. Try being ugly and a shrew and you end up a meme like Big Red or Trigglypuff.

I've not seen this myself at all. I see stupid guys punching above their weight and putting up with shit as a result, but not actually being attracted to this behaviour. They just tolerate it if she's hot enough.

I'm not sure it's a conscious decision. Some people like conflict, men and women alike. They swear up and down they don't, but conflict can breed intimacy, and that emotional roller coaster deepens feelings for many people, especially if they grew up around it. Men who are unable to fully realize and express their feelings often wind up with explosive women who serve as a release valve for those feelings.

When you ask people what they want, they answer in the abstract.

Like a print ad of an unhurried morning reading the paper in slippers, beside an attractive but unglamorous woman dwarfed in one of your crisp white shirts, laughing over the crossword puzzle. what men say they want is often very different from what they actually pursue. Take makeup and "high maintenance" women. A lot of men complain about makeup and superficial vanity, but they'll chase after the dolled up Stacy over a more laid back natural gal almost every time.

Just do what you do and be who you are without worrying what the opposite sex says is desirable. They're usually wrong.

We accept the love we think we deserve. Maybe some men like to date so-called shrews because they want or need the motivation of someone harping on them. Some people need a gentle nudge and others, a hard shove, to be their best self. Not just men, either - for example, I know my house is a 1000 times cleaner than it would be if I lived alone, because my partner is a neat freak and very particular about where things should go, so I try hard to accommodate him. On my own I would binge watch Netflix or read, and deep clean once a week instead.

My boyfriend tells me that he likes that I’m a bitch to everyone but him, so... I don’t know.

Makes sense though, because he’s literarily the kindest and sweetest man ever, there’s no way I could ever be a bitch to him. When a man that’s routinely good to you, fucks up once in a while, it’s easy to chuck it up as a mistake and not react like its a red flag pattern of behavior.

Different guys, at different stages of life, have different tollerance levels for shrewish behaviour. I suppose we can substitute "bitch" for "shrew". When I was younger I put up with a certain amount of bitchiness if she was hot. I just can't be bothered anymore.

TRP guys despise that behaviour but are not beneath putting up with it to get a P&D.
