In economics it is called responding to incentives. As the cost of marriage goes up, and the benefits go down, you can expect less of it to be engaged in, all things being equal.

The problem will be, of course, what we are already seeing: women will not forgo the benefits of marriage--increased household income, social status, children, child-rearing assistance--just because men do not want to provide them directly. Oh no. Instead it will become a matter of social justice that women are entitled to such benefits, notwithstanding the lack of a marriage partner. Government will take from men what the women demand.

So expect more income transfers to women with children. (income) Expect more rhetoric about how single moms are the best of all people (status), while men who refuse to marry are shamed (status is relative, after all). Expect more government provision of "assistance" in the form of state-paid care for kids, permitting moms to "have a night off" etc.

Happening already. More to come.

This. At this point the best reproductive strategy as a man is probably to stay unemployed (above the table, anyway) and have as many kids by as many different women as possible. Those poor 9-5 suckers will take care of the children without having any of their own, and 1000 years from now geneticists will realize every living human is related to some tatted up biker dude with good game from the 21st century.

[–]vakerr9 points10 points11 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

With that strategy there won't be any geneticists a 1000 years from now. In fact no need for 1k years, ~3 generations of this would eliminate modern civilization.

Link is NSFW

Shelling out $200 or more to have sex with a prostitute is an expensive way for men to get their rocks off but it’s much cheaper than getting married, an economist says.

Matthew Barnes of the University of Chicago says it’s pricier by a factor of 10 for men to get sex regularly through marriage than to hire a prostitute on a regular basis. Behind the huge gap are the long-term costs associated with marriage—mortgage, college, groceries, vacations, clothes—that don’t apply to a weekly fling with a prostitute.

“There’s more to marriage than just sex, but strictly from an economics standpoint, if the primary reason that men marry is to have a steady outlet for sex, then they’re much better off just having sex with a prostitute, says Barnes, lead author of a study that appears this month in Economics Journal.

Barnes and his research team compared the costs of getting and staying married for a 20-year period to 20 years of weekly sex with a prostitute at $200 a pop. Barnes says $200 is the median price for sex with a prostitute who prices her services at the midpoint of the market in the 20 largest metropolitan statistical areas in the United States. High-priced hookers and drug-addicted street walkers weren’t included in the sampling.

The result is eye-opening. For marriage, the 20-year price tag comes to $2 million, on average, 10 times more than the roughly $208,000 a man would pay over the same time period for a weekly liaison with prostitutes. “And the prostitutes don’t nag,” says Barnes, “or, if they do, you can just go to another one.”

Good to know. The numbers involved are believable though.

[–]Grasdaggel6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

LOL 2M$ Dollars in 20 years, believable? Do you earn 100k a year?

No no, those numbers are not believable and since woman do not earn to much (up to 20% less then a male)... Well 2 Million in 20 years is simply not possible.

[–]curiousthis8 points9 points10 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Well 2 Million in 20 years is simply not possible.

Throw in the cost of divorce, alimony and child support, $2 million seems on the smaller side.

[–]well-ok-then1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women not earning is why they cost $2M. $100k/year spent by the wife on shit you don't need / wouldn't buy without her? Sounds low.

Its almost as if there is some sort of conspiracy to break up the family destory its influence and then use the state as a surrogate. That way the state can impart its own values without competition from dad.

Hitler youth and Soviet pioneers were very effective programs.

But there are fredums in amerikee its not like that here! We dont brainwash children!

Do an experiment say something negative about the American flag. People will flip the fuck out. Why? Because the pledge of allegiance works.

You're right, but this can only last so long. Eventually, there just isn't enough to go around and that's when you get a society that starts to crumble.

And, when it does come down, things get a lot closer to the natural state wherein those with the capability to dominate do so, and others fall in line accordingly.

[–]2renzy7753 points54 points55 points 11 years ago (34 children) | Copy Link

We now have a couple of generations of American men who've seen their fathers, their brothers, and their friends go through the divorce meat grinder and who are wisely taking steps to avoid the same fate. The fact that it's taken this long for men to shy away from the institution is a testament to the amount of cultural momentum behind marriage.

[–]∞ Mod | RP Vanguardbsutansalt[S] 43 points44 points45 points 11 years ago* (21 children) | Copy Link

You know what, my generation had the same foresight, but many/majority of us still got married. I think the difference is that millennials have the internet and it constantly serves up examples of how things can go wrong, which acts as a type of positive reinforcement for staying single/not getting married. The truth is TRP wouldn't exist if it weren't for the internet.

[–]TRP VanguardJP_Whoregan31 points32 points33 points 11 years ago (15 children) | Copy Link

I think the difference is that millennials have the internet and it constantly serves up examples of how things can go wrong,

This. It is exactly this. Men today are able to compare notes like no other time in human history. This is why women used to get away with NAWALT. For instance, 30 years ago, a guy could get divorce raped, and while talking about it to his mother and sister, they would tell him NAWALT and he'd believe them because he didn't have any frame of reference outside of his own, or maybe his friends if he was lucky. But now, the internet has given us a vastly greater number of data points, we are charting the graph, developing a trend line, and now we know the truth: AWALT.

[–]makethemsayayy -1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (14 children) | Copy Link

Why would his mother and sister tell him NAWALT? Fucking protect your own blood, you fucking cunts. Jesus, they won't though.

[–]TRP VanguardJP_Whoregan20 points21 points22 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Why would his mother and sister tell him NAWALT?

Because all women fight first and foremost for Team Woman. Period. Even your own mother. Even your own mother expects you to "just get it" even if she never taught you the ropes when you were young.

[–]_JustKnight_ 10 points11 points12 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That is sadly true. I have recently started confronting my mom about this whenever she tries to talk about marriage and ask her "why are you advocating for random females than your own son?". Surprisingly once I openly confront her its like a light bulb goes off in her head and she starts agreeing with me that all this is a bad deal for men.

But then she talks to some of her friends and other family and is back with the same BS again a few days later.

[–]makethemsayayy 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Unbelievable. Their own fucking blood and they don't care to tell them how fucking conniving women are. The fairer sex, huh?

[–]windowkicker 6 points7 points8 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The biological imperitative doesn't care if men slave all of their lives, men are disposable. Mothers and sister everywhere put pressure on men to get married. Ask them why and they don't even know.

[–]makethemsayayy 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

God we follow our dicks but at least we KNOW it. They follow their impulses that men are disposable and can't even pinpoint where it's coming from because they just follow emotions. If anything I'd say at least understanding the urge is much better than just doing something and not understand why.

[–]Han_Darmon 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago* (7 children) | Copy Link

Fundamentally, why do you not steal? Because you don't want to be stolen from. The golden rule only works if (mostly) everyone else is following it.

Why do mothers tell their sons NAWALT? Because someone's else's son will hear that NAWALT and she can manipulate him for her benefit. But it only works if most women are in on it.

But it's not a conscious decision. Just like you don't think about not stealing to actively protect your own property, it's more like deeply ingrained groupthink.

[–]makethemsayayy 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

I don't get the second line, what do you mean someone else's son will hear it and she could manipulate him? is the mom manipulating someone else?

[–]Han_Darmon 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago* (5 children) | Copy Link

I'm saying all women tell other men that NAWALT because this in turn benefits all women as a whole. Yet the woman does it because she herself thinks she is the exeption to the rule.

Constrained example:

Mary tells Bob NAWALT, Stacy tells Ted NAWALT. Bob meets Stacy and thinks she is a unicorn. Ted meets Mary and thinks she is a unicorn. Mary and Stacy both benefit from telling other men that NAWALT, but only if they both do so.

There may be a better way to explain it but it's really late.

[–]makethemsayayy 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Well now we see why the women themselves say it, it helps them validate themselves, wow you're so special! no other girl is like you!

but it doesn't explain why the mothers do it. they have nothing to gain from it.

[–]Han_Darmon 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

The same reason you would teach your son that murder is wrong. You are uncosciously relying on all the other parents in the world to teach their kids that murder is wrong, for the selfish benefit of you not getting murdered.

[–]makethemsayayy 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yes but murder is rare. Women being conniving is extremely common to the point of one NOT being like that is referred to as a unicorn.

[–]Han_Darmon1 point 11 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Women being conniving is extremely common to the point of one NOT being like that is referred to as a unicorn.

Yes, but this isn't widely known. This type of speech is only tolerated in places like The Red Pill, and its partly the reason we are so hated. In the real world, where women are equal to men in every way other than size and strength, this is sexist blasphemy.

This is because women have taught society this, and shamed into exile the truthful narrative, for their own selfish benefit.

[–]tsotha 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

If she didn't she'd have to admit some uncomfortable truths about her own marriage.

[–]1grendalor4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Yes the internet was the game changer, and it came to late for some of us to change our own personal game. That's a shame, but it's just how the flow of time works.

[–]∞ Mod | RP Vanguardbsutansalt[S] 7 points8 points9 points 11 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

I'm sure someday there will be guys saying the same thing about Vasalgel or the male birth control pill.

[–]netgrey4 points 11 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

Frankly it will probably be the end of our civilization when male birth control arrives. I won't shed a tear, the next one will replace us with a patriarchy and strong family.

Look at who is reproducing and what their religion teaches them about women and birth control.

[–]1grendalor0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Likely true, or even other things that are completely off our radar at this time.

[–]draketton0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I think the difference is pressure. Your generations had parents who said "marry and give us grandchildren or we won't support you". Your generation had bosses and coworkers who said "marry and start a family or you can't be a part of this workplace anymore."

Some millenials still have to deal with that crap but a significant portion are completely free of it.

The internet helps us feel good about our choice but the choice itself comes from warnings received IRL + a lack of pressure to ignore those warnings.

[–]TRP VanguardJP_Whoregan39 points40 points41 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I think we are literally at a point in America where every single person is either divorced themselves or at least personally knows somebody who is divorced. I have an aunt who divorced two husbands, both times for fickle reasons. A good friend of mine had his wife leave him after 7 years of marriage because she was having an affair with a filthy rich cad with a beach condo and a BMW, and he found out about it.

Marriage today is like walking through the gates to an amusement park, and seeing people getting tossed from roller coasters, getting run over by bumper cars, and watching rides fall apart in front of your eyes, and the ride operator is looking at you and saying "step right up! It's your turn!"

[–]Senior EndorsedMattyAnon27 points28 points29 points 11 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

If women as a whole wanted to protect the institution of marriage and its appeal to men, all they had to do was play fair.

But no - each of them selfishly maximised their own benefit at their husband's expense. And hence, here we are..

[–]waylandertheslayer0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

That's the way evolution works. In each generation, the women who selfishly maximised passed that trait on (whether biologically or culturally is irrelevant), and each generation, some women with non-selfish parents joined them. Evolution selects for individual benefit, not group benefit

[–]Senior EndorsedMattyAnon1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Evolution selects for individual benefit, not group benefit

Totally.

And each woman is selfishly maximising her benefit at everyone else's expense, while pretending she's being oh-so-generous and doing-her-bit-for-womankind.

[–]windowkicker 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women don't need us to protect then while walk down the streets. They don't strictly need us to pay for babies. Marriage was created for these things. By the same token, we only need women for sex, not preparing our food or washing our clothes.

[–]tsotha 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Evolution selects for individual benefit, not group benefit

Group benefit aids the survival of a closely related genes, just not as closely as progeny. Consider the stereotypical gay uncle scenario, where an orphan who would otherwise have died is raised by his (childless) gay uncle. The uncle ensures the survival of genes that are very much like his own.

Evolution is always a balance between traits that benefit the group and traits that benefit the individual. That's as true for bacteria forming biofilms as it is for soldiers dying in war.

[–]waylandertheslayer0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yeah, but that's an extension of an earlier individual benefit (i.e. there is a common ancestor, so those who gain the benefit and those who give the benefit share similar genes). The way I mean it is that there is no incentive for women to help men they're no longer attracted to, since they don't share genes.

[–]Senior Contributordr_warlock0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

These behavioral adaptations were created in a nomadic society. There were natural constraints to balance the behavior. Now, we have extreme artificial enforcement of this behavior, while artificially destroying the natural barriers. The system wont last. Nature will attain balance again.

[–]Senior Contributorcocaine_face14 points15 points16 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Literally every man I've ever talked to that has been married for more than 10 years and/or divorced has warned me about marriage.

Maybe it's selection bias, but the recommendation is extremely common.

[–]redambience5 points6 points7 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

My mother and father are still married after more than 30 years. They taught me everything I needed to know about why to never get married.

[–]tsotha 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I had the opposite experience. My parents have been happily married more than 50 years, and if I could find a person like my mother in terms of her expectations and outlook on life, I'd marry her. But her generation wasn't raised on a steady diet of "whatever's right for you is the right thing to do".

[–]Dark_Shroud0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is how I feel. My mother was good to my father and didn't pull shit that women of today do.

She actually cooked, cleaned, and managed the house for the time she was a stay at home mom.

How many general women even know how to cook now actual meals now?

[–]2johnnight90 points91 points92 points 11 years ago* (7 children) | Copy Link

This isn't even a strike. More like deliberate dismantling. This guy is enjoying the decline:

FlabbaBabbaWabbaJabbaNoonga! • 24 days ago

Millennial male here. I don't even date women anymore. Given my experience with American women, it's unlikely that I'd marry ANY woman, regardless of nationality. I've been in enough countries to see the same software running in all their heads. The only difference is the level to which they can express their degeneracy without invoking the wrath of society around them.

I'd rather work hard and retire at 35 instead. Spend my best years fishing in warm places with funny names. I don't care about preserving a genetic legacy or maintaining the stability of my race or country. I'm not particularly attached to any of it.

Let the conquerors pick up the pieces. I'm going fishing.

Edit: A strike would mean demands for better work conditions and an intention to go back to the assembly line once there is an agreement (MRA). This is more like a permanent abandonment of the work place.

I love this. I always leave my idealistic leanings out of TRP, but personally I don't identify myself anywhere within the political spectrum of things.

I believe the political spectrum was a set rule established by leaders to keep the masses under control and in order. Borders don't mean shit, nationalism doesn't mean shit either. We're all humans on a rock in the middle of the vast nothingness we call "space".

For another man to try to convince me of his political ideology based on the manipulation game (IE: left vs right turd sandwich A or turd sandwich B) and hail him as my "fuhrer".. Go off to defend this country's borders (established by the fuhrers) in the name of nationalism (also established by the fuhrers) against people who were manipulated the same exact way?

Nope, fuck you. I'm going fishing.

Its happening, MGTOW is the philosophical virus whether known or unknown which posits women as not worth the economic time of man. Fishing, gaming, reading, sleeping these things thanks to the internet have given men a real world economic analysis of self worth/enjoyment. Gynocentric society, marriage is not worth the time of men as its an extremely narcissistic culture of entitlement which treats one side as a perpetual criminal class(men).

The only difference is the level to which they can express their degeneracy without invoking the wrath of society around them.

Women only do what men allow them to do. The only thing keeping them from acting on their destructive urges is social shame. This is why virtually all past societies placed heavy restrictions on women. You have to keep them in check.

To draw a parallel however, since men control commitment and women control sex, wouldn't that be like a woman not giving a man sex?

In other words, if a woman doesn't give her man sex, the logical thing is to next her, which makes sense. Now conversely, wouldn't it be equally logical for a woman to next a man that doesn't give her commitment (assuming she's giving him sex)?

Personally I would have more respect for a woman that demands commitment (assuming she was not a slut before obviously) that a CC rider, even if I was opposed to said commitment.

[–]TRP VanguardJP_Whoregan16 points17 points18 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

You're drawing a false parallel, under the assumption that women think and logic the same as men.

Her behavior will be strictly dictated by how she has subconsciously categorized you: Alpha Fux or Beta Bux. If you are Alpha Fux, she will give sex very quickly in the hopes that you will commit to her. If you are Beta Bux, she will withhold sex, in the hopes that you will commit to her in order to get sex from her.

Men, specifically Alpha-mindset men, do not open or close their gates of commitment in the same way women open or close their gates to sex. We do not have a dualistic sexual strategy, because we do not seek provision from women in any way; we only seek beauty, loyalty, and humility. We will give our commitment to the women who display these qualities, and pump and dump women who do not display them. The only men foolish enough to offer commitment devoid of sex are Beta Bux.

[–]livingthedreamnow3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No, because if you've got a woman who is worth it,, then commit,, but don't marry. Commitment is behavior. You show commitment. It's not a certificate.

To draw a more accurate parallel,,, it's more like having a girl who tells you she won't ever be in a threesome. Marriage is basically a threesome, between you, her, and the state.

[–]tsotha 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Women are stupid. They'll think that you can be changed and will try to change you. Enjoy it, and 1 year later when they fail, they'll hamster it, cry, and want to leave but want you to reach out for them and suddenly change. When that happens, you drop them and move on to another plate.

[–]chillmonkey884 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I've told a all my plates I've had the last two years and they take it like satire or a joke "he can't really think that way" but after a few relationships I haven't found in all of them from the 1 month one all the way to one that lasted longer than 9 months and every single time, not one exception I mean every single one of the 6 I've been with the last 2 years, has said after she drops me or I drop her that she couldn't wait forever. Which I laugh at because I always say "I told you that right off the bat".

It's funny you bring that up because if you say it up front that your not interested in ltr, you get the "Independent woman" attitude... but deep down at least in my experience... they yearn for that long term commitment. They need it and will lie to you saying they don't. I don't blame them for hiding it because it's just a girls reaction or female game that's reacting to men opting out... like a decoy to her for saying "yeah I'm not one of those girls that wants a long term bf either"

all these relationships have intertwined at one point as well. I try to spin 2 plates at a time and I figure that's important to mention because non of these relationships were exclusive and the women knew there was another girl as well.

[–]1mojo_juju2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

do you think it enters in her head that you have high smv and are valuable?

define "you".

it really just depends. is "you" already high smv?

I don't think it's going to flip a guy from low to high smv for most, just by uttering this intention not to get married. but for a guy with average to higher than average, it is likely to increase smv (it demonstrates his un-neediness, and therefore abundance; also puts him into a certain club of exclusivity)

[–]loin_fruit0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Interesting. Well I would like to think for a lot of my plates they seem to think I have high smv. They never want anything more out of me than what we have going on....or so it seems. Never know if there's some hidden agenda. I mentioned I never wanted to be in a relationship or married. And the plates always seem to ask why not. I always figured by saying I didn't want to marry ever it showed I had no problem getting laid outside of a relationship and I had abundance.

[–]TRP VanguardWhisper-1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

[–]loin_fruit0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Thanks for the contribution to the question.

[–]TRP VanguardWhisper8 points9 points10 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not quite my point. If a woman is asking my opinion about marriage, then she's the sort of woman I want to next. She's looking for "beta pays", not "alpha fucks".

Furthermore, if she asks that question right away, she most likely doesn't have a good relationship work ethic. It's like walking into a martial arts school and asking on the first day "how long it takes to get a black belt". It shows focus on getting, instead of earning.

If she wants to earn my emotional investment, she doesn't care about documents and promises and "commitments". If she cares about those things, she's looking to lock me down instead of keep me invested.

[–]greypickup2 points 11 years ago [recovered] | Copy Link

The last few years I've focused on improving myself. All before I found TRP. I doubled my income, I'm pretty ripped (I was skinny fat), moved to a place on the beach, cultivated my hobbies, worked on my social skills and continue to improve. I can literally text a few women a proposal right this second and I'm 100% sure they would gleefully say yes. But I honestly don't want to, so I won't.

A few years ago I couldn't even get a date, now they offer to come over and cook/clean for me. I put in zero effort these days, yet they basically throw themselves at me. Now my thought process is "what can she offer me besides sex" when it used to be "what can I do to get her to date me".

My transformation wasn't sudden, I didn't even realize it was happening. I didn't find this place until I was like 90% there. I honestly don't think I could go back to the way I was even if I wanted to.

There's really just no point to marriage anymore. At least in the US..

Back in the day, a guy could work on an auto assembly line and earn enough money to buy a 3 bedroom house, car, support a wife and 2.5 children, cat, dog, goldfish and bring the family to the cabin/vacation home for a week or two in the summer.

Today, people in their mid twenties who have a master's degree can't find a job that doesn't come with a pink slip once a year. More and more soldiers are coming home from war with no family, no job, and nowhere to rest their head that's not a street corner or a shelter. Everyone's doped up on different medications (don't get me wrong, sometimes people actually need it, but often times doctors are just pushing product the same way a heroine dealer would).

Single moms who get knocked up by deadbeats live off of state assistance have a more comfortable living than a high school teacher who worked their ass off in school.

That same high school teacher also made the mindful decision to "not have children" or get married because the cost is too much with respect to his income. You could say "well why doesn't the teacher find a better paying job" But fact of the matter is, WE NEED TEACHERS they're a necessary part of our infrastructure.

Welcome to America, where everyone wins except the poor bastard who's breaking his back to make the cogs of this broken machine turn.

EDIT:

Just as I was posting this, my mother (single mom, unemployed for 3 years with no excuses for it, alcoholic, and drug addict) came to my apartment begging me for money. She usually does this once or twice a week. My mother has a master's degree and has worked as an attorney in the past, unfortunately her bad decisions have ruined her career and spiraled down and is at rockbottom now.. She even recently just got denied a waitressing job at a restaurant.

She literally does nothing except sits at her house watching Lifetime TV, getting blackout drunk, and posting brooding, negative FB statuses. She had some boyfriend who was a textbook beta for a while, but she decided she was "too good for him" and dumped him.

This woman is 50 years old; she never grew the fuck up.. And she calls my generation "entitled" and "selfish". The irony of it all…

This woman is 50 years old; she never grew the fuck up.. And she calls my generation "entitled" and "selfish". The irony of it all…

I've always thought this is incredible. As a guy who is almost 30, I'm constantly hearing about how entitled my generation is, but invariably I'm hearing that from people who earned a pretty fantastic living doing jobs that no longer exist at an astronomically high "wage-to-education required" ratio the likes of which can't be found anywhere in modern day America.

I'm not ripping on all Boomers (I feel lucky to have a couple of RP parents who taught me the value of hard work and no excuses), but a shocking number of them don't realize how fortunate they are to have been born to the WW2 generation and grown up in what may turn out to be the last, best, most peaceful, and most broadly shared period of economic growth in the history of our country. How many people have been that rich while being that average in the history of mankind?

[–]crimson-hound 21 points22 points23 points 11 years ago* (10 children) | Copy Link

So true, I agree.. I've met a few boomers who know how the system is very rigged today. It's almost like a movement in American culture from a Classic to Post-Classic period before collapse.

A lot of them won't admit it though cause it's a blow to their ego to think that they inherited a world of wealth and passed on a world of shit and poverty to their offspring. Then if you mention this you get the finger pointed at you and told to "get it together and stop playing the blame game"..

One thing that I despise is the saying "Living Wage".. According to some Ivy league grad who has probably never lived a day in the shoes of a working class guy.. $12.65 is a "living wage" in the city of Boston (my location)… I don't know if you live there or have ever been there, but the cost of living is insane, and yes you can get by on $12.65 but you'll be living like a slave and you better hope to god you don't have or come down with any severe medical issues. If you want to even own a car on this living in Boston you're dreaming.. Nevermind getting married or having children.

Listen buddy, you wanna know what a living wage is? Go look at a union tradesman's paycheck. I can tell you right now that worker isn't earning that fucking $12.65 peanut pay…

Yeah, East Coast & West Coast major metros have crazy pricing. God bless the midwest where as long as you don't have to live in the nicest part of the nicest suburb in your city or in a downtown loft, you can buy 4BR, 2000+ SqFt houses for less than $100k.

Edit:

And to address the main thrust of your post, I don't really understand why the Boomers are so reluctant to allow for the fact that young people have it hard. It doesn't invalidate your life's work to acknowledge that it's hard out there right now. Yes, it was "easy" to get a factory job and earn a middle class living, but that doesn't mean I think your job itself was easy. I can acknowledge that you showed up on-time and busted your ass everyday and still say that you had an opportunity that you couldn't have gotten today with the same education at the same pay. People are just people. If you took the souls of the Millenials and the souls of the Boomers and switched them in some kind of Freaky Friday thing where the Millenials were born in the 50's and 60's and the Boomers were born in the 90's, things would have turned out the same. People are people, they respond to the world around them.

So, you don't live anywhere near Chicago. A 2bd 2bath 1100sqft townhouse in Elgin (the ghetto) is around 120k, on top of 150/month HOA fee and 3k/year in taxes.

Don't go around lying about how cheap housing is. It's incredibly expensive. If you want a 1 bedroom apartment with washer/dryer inside, at about 800sqft you're gonna spend about 1200/month.

[–]Trigger_Warnings2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Single bedroom apartments start at 170k here.

[–]RealRational0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

  1. Where is here?
  2. What do you mean 170k? That can't be /month. If you're talking about the type you can buy then I suggest you look up prices in Trump Tower in Chicago, literally millions. I am not talking about the type you can buy. Totally different tax filing status.

[–]Trigger_Warnings-1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Australia, and no, it's 1 70k to buy a shitty apartment. House prices average 700k here now.

[–]RealRational0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

House prices average? Wow, Germany houses are a lot more expensive as well, and they're smaller. How much is it to rent there though? Like, just a 600sqft place. Just google to convert that into whatever measurement you guys use for size. I think Germany is m2.

[–]RedForMe 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Chicago is kind of cherry-picking my point. Chicago is obviously in its own category in the midwest given that its size is on par with the coastal cities everyone thinks of as being big and expensive. I'm thinking of places like Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, etc. I can't speak to prices in Chicago, no experience in that market.

[–]RealRational1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Well even Wisconsin is pretty much the same thing, anywhere Chicago's sphere of influence extends to really. Even North-West Indiana. But you are right, if you can manage to find good work away from Chicago's economic influence (good luck with that!) cost of living is much lower.

I don't consider it cherry picking because "Chicagoland" is fucking massive, it covers more area than anywhere else in the world. (in terms of cities) You won't ever hear of a "Manhattanland" because the city stops at the city limits. Chicagoland goes on for more than 100 miles in every direction past the city limits. It's a truly unique situation and really the only case in the world that argues the return of the "city state".

I don't consider Missouri and Ohio and the like to be options because personally I wouldn't want to live there. Other people can want to live there, but they'll run into the same major problem I did when I did want to move to Ohio or Michigan, finding a good job. Cost of living being lower doesn't matter if your income is commensurately lower.

[–]RedForMe 0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

I'm not going to disagree with your points about Chicago, but now you're telling me that you have to live in Chicago because you aren't willing to live in cheaper locations for what sound like both career and lifestyle reasons. That's a perfectly fine choice, but that's on you. The draw of big city life attracts so many people to such a small area that basic economics makes housing more expensive. Chicago is the biggest city in America after NYC and LA.

I think my point stands that if you're willing to live in the Midwest (which is what I know) or probably the South as well in or near the various #10-#50 metro areas, you can get most of the same experience for significantly cheaper. If you don't believe me, get on Zillow and filter to your heart's content. You'll be surprised.

Also, I'd dispute that jobs that pay decent wages don't exist outside of Chicago. Columbus, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, Louisville, Kansas City, etc. etc. all have unemployment rates between about 5-7% (Chicago is about 12%) and various industries and large employers (public and private sector) in each city.

A little Google work reveals this list of the Fortune 500 companies located in the Midwest (it's from 2011, but that's recent enough to make the point).

Like I said before, you don't have to want to live in these places, but I don't think you can dispute that a person has the option of gainful employment and good living at a cheaper cost as long as you don't have to live in a top 5 population city in the US.

[–]RealRational0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

First paragraph, yeah, I know. But I don't actually live anywhere near the city, I'm 60 miles away. But it's still called "Chicagoland". Which is what I'm trying to explain, Chicago is unique in the world in that the cities influence extends literally 100+ miles out in every direction.

Now, I actually dislike living here, I'd love to move. But I tried for 6 years, and was entirely unable to get work that paid the same or more anywhere I actually do want to live. Like Wyoming, or Colorado, I actually don't like the city, it's just the economic opportunities here are unrivaled. Especially in the Industries I have experience in.

Second paragraph: I know, I have seen housing comparisons. It's infuriating. But as I said, I was completely unable, for nearly a decade, to find good, full time employment anywhere outside of Chicago's sphere of influence. (Madison, WI, Milwaukee, WI, Rockford, IL, Elgin, IL, Shaumburg, IL, Kankakee, IL, Gary, IN etc...)

3rd paragraph Yes, I know that there are jobs in those locations. But my skill set and experience eliminates a lot of those right away. (IT, Engineering, Industrial Automation). So of the jobs left, the company has to be willing to pay relocation expenses, and offer a salary at least as high as my "current" salary. (In quotes because I'm talking about what it was when I was an employee, now I run a business, so no one's gonna be able to match that). All the other variables that make a job desirable, work from home, lots of vacation days, low-no managerial oversight.

It comes down to what's important to you, for me the economic perks have me trapped here for now. Hopefully in a couple years the business is successful enough I can move it to Wyoming or Colorado. For now though it's an asset to be by O'hare, and Chicago. Location location location, even in the age of the internet it still holds true. I get contracts sometimes where the primary reason I got it instead of someone else is the fact that I'm near Chicago.

But again, I am no where near the city, my town has 10k people, but we still have Chicago prices because we're in "Chicagoland".

My dad went to college in the mid 70's. He said his education cost him $8,000. When he got out, hew was able to find a job making $17,000 a year. And now, school costs 100k+ and even if you do find a good job in your field, dont expect to get more than 50k.....if you're lucky.

Sadly it is because our government gave them out so readily that of course the for profit institutions gobbled up as much as they could gorge themselves on. And then gave the politicians that passed the assistance legislation kickbacks to do it more. Rinse, repeat, until economic hyperinflation -> collapse.

This is why money should rarely be given out without some sort of productivity being exchanged for it.

[–]RedForMe 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

[–]1grendalor8 points9 points10 points 11 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

Yep. It wasn't sustainable. Of course the boomers also looted a lot, but the fundamental problem was that the Post-WW2 boom was an aberration: global economic competition was mostly offline (Germany, other Europe, Japan, China, etc.), and so the US made hay while the sun was shining and, yes, average folks with very low education profiles were living comfortable middle class lives. That was an aberration, because it was based on artificially low competition from other places. Once competition came online properly, the model wasn't sustainable (and, frankly, no-one should expect that the idea that a relatively modestly skilled person should live a comfortable life -- the world has never been that way, and the situation for people in that situation in the US in the post-WW2 boom era was very outlierish). We're moving back to a more "normal" structure, where most people are SOL, a few people are in the middle, and a very few people at the top or near it reap the lion's share of the wealth -- whether financial or sexual, it is the same thing.

This doesn't mean there shouldn't be tweaking around the edges to make it less painful for people who can't improve themselves, but it does mean that the 1950s-60s are not coming back, likely ever. Not for jobs, finances nor sex/marriage. It was a bubble. Reality came charging in after the bubble burst, and it isn't going to go away because people preferred the bubble.

[–]Senior Contributorcocaine_face2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Yep, throughout most of history, you've had a few extremely wealthy, and a large mass of poor.

There are localized times when the price of labor gets higher (after the Black Death, parts of industrialization, after WW2), but for the most part this is the model that the world typically fits into.

That being said, any sort of technical skill, along with entrepreneurship can lead to a very comfortable life - possibly even crossing the gap between poor to rich.

[–]RedForMe 4 points5 points6 points 11 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

The thing of it is, I agree with your assessment that we're going back to a new normal that's sort of the same as the old normal, but at the same time it's still an amazing time to be alive, and an amazing place to be alive. $10/hour isn't a great job, but it's $1600/month full time (gross, obv.). Let's say you only take home $1200. That's not a ton of money, but pair a couple of people together and now you've got $2400/month to take home. You can live in a decent place, have machines do most of what used to manual labor, and have a connection to the internet where the entirety of all humanity's knowledge is there for you to explore. And much as people complain, here in America it's not that hard to build up a small business/side hustle for extra money. That's not a bad fucking time to be alive!

It'll always suck to be born poor, or born disabled. There's no bones about that. But for the typical, able-bodied person, I still think today in America is probably the best time in the history of humanity to be born just from a pure "what we have/don't have to do for ourselves" vs. "how bad it can be" proposition. If you are able bodied and born in America, there's really no excuse not to be successful even if you have a lower paying job.

I say all this to point out that while I think the Boomers bitch a lot compared to how easy they had things in terms of the structure of life, I think we have no excuses. Life is good, and you have a chance to make it better. What more could any RP man want?!

A roommate accomplishes the same task. I wasn't assuming this fictional person is married to the other fictional person. When I was just out of college, my roommate and I were able to live the good life and looking back, neither one of us made shit for money, we were just frugal, shared big expenses for common items, and we hadn't experienced lifestyle inflation yet since we were young.

[–]arrayay0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I agree it is a smart approach. You still need to consider honor and that the person won't make your quality of life suffer, but you are able to check out of the situation without penalty.

The large majority of the male population buys into the dual income con, unfortunately, so I wanted to call that out.

Yeah, I mean it's a sub-optimal situation to have 2 people both making $10/hour relying on each other to keep up a standard of living, but I guess my point is really that you can make it in this country even if you have to start at the bottom. Get a cheap place and a decent roommate (or three) and start working hard.

EDIT:

One of my favorite living situations I've ever had was with 5 guys living together in a fantastic 5BR house. $400/month rent is not much to work with, but 5x400 = $2000/month rent was a pretty great house!

[–]1grendalor0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

It's a good attitude to have, certainly. All of us have to make the best of the circumstances we are handed and which we don't control -- and having a positive attitude is a significant part of making the best of things.

[–]captainpixystick 1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Also don't forget that women began entering the work force after WW2 creating a larger labor force which debased labor worth. Then businesses began moving to other countries for cheap slave labor to sell those "Made in China" products back to us while they took our jobs away only to move back five decades later but they've fully automated all those old jobs.

[–]Locastor0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

but it does mean that the 1950s-60s are not coming back, likely ever.

I'm pretty sure they'd come right back in the aftermath of a World War.

Perhaps so, but do you expect another world war anytime soon?

[–]crazytrpr0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Not a world war. More lots of internal conflict

[–]crazytrpr0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I do, all the fucking time. She starts crying and goes on and on about how she raised me while my father was in and out of jail and she had to work her ass off blah blah… As if I'm indebted to her for it.

Well, sucks to suck doesn't it?! If I had kids, I would probably rob a bank before I even asked them for a dime.

You didn't ask to be born.

Giving a child life is a wonderful thing, but the parent can't unilaterally say 'you owe me' when you could have no choice in the matter.

My mom flips the script on me "I only live for you and your sister". Meanwhile she makes suicides attempts and ends up in the psych ward (not a one time thing mind you). Has pulled that crap on me since I was a kid. How can you tell your mom what you think of her when your scared she will kill herself after you do? I'm going to start telling my mom how it is though fuck that bitch shes put me through hell. If she wants to play drama queen and make another suicide attempt and blame it on us she can go right the fuck ahead. Totally irrelevant but i needed to vent lol.

[–]HermesHermeneus1 point2 points3 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Just get yourself out of that situation. Anyone who tries to own you though your pity and guilt will be dead weight in your life.

Talk to her when you want to, on your terms. Judge her like you would any other person. If one of your acquaintances pulled that, what would you think?

Being just isn't always fun.

[–]JayViceroy-1 points0 points1 point 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Honestly dude, as someone that lost a best friend to suicide and another one of my close friend's mothers to suicide. It really is a bad idea to push people to their limits. Life is precious man. I push TRP on people in this sub all the time, but some people cannot handle tough love and fold under the pressure. All the shit you're feeling now becomes irrelevant when they pull the trigger for the last time.

Welcome to America, where everyone wins except the poor bastard who's breaking his back to make the cogs of this broken machine turn.

This might explain it:

According to a recent series by the Washington Post that examined the group that has served as the back bone of the American economy for decades, the middle class median household income peaked at least 15 years ago in 81 percent of U.S. counties.

Yup, all while the cost of living rises. Whenever I hear about "women wanting equal pay" I fucking laugh. There's no such thing as "equal pay" in this country for ANYONE. It's all about how valuable your skill set is and who you know. gender/race doesn't mean jack shit if you're a valuable asset.

There are 2 men in my office I know who have been through the divorce grinder more than once and another one who thinks LTR is the best way to keep them females in check.

1) Mike has been divorced twice and gave up on the feminine species and now is retired before retirement age and drives a Mustang convertible.

2) Another Mike has been divorced twice and now has a girlfriend whom he can kick out when ever he wants if she become greedy.

3) Has never been married, keeps a GF and that's it.

So yes, men are getting smarter.

What's hilarious to me, they still seem to be blaming men. It's these damn men thinking logically and not submitting themselves to womanly whims just to perpetuate this shitty society. If they would just worship the pussy, we would have a new generation of children to indoctrinate.

Having sons that you know are going to grow up to be beta is worse than being childless.

Marriage seems to be for those that don't know how to get laid in any other way than being taken/in a relationship. If it was possible for you to get laid all the time while being single and all it costs you is some of your time, why wouldn't you take that over marriage?

Had the conversation with my mom the other day about how I never planned on getting married. She agreed with my decision and said she's glad I don't want to get married, but said cause she would love grand kids.

Sorry that the feminists ruined it mom.

[–]BrunoOh7 points8 points9 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'd like to append to that that if you can't get laid outside a relationship then you can't have a satisfying relationship. The dread and smv are simply not good enough.

500+ comments and almost all of them preach the same message, red pill examples one after another, much of which could have been taken right out of Men On Strike by Helen Smith.

  • Everyone has a mixture of public views that they share with others, and private views that they keep to themselves. A public view might be "Taxes are too high." I don't care if people IRL know that I think taxes are too high. On the other hand, "Women are not equal to men" is a private view...this one, I don't say out loud. You get the idea
  • People openly express their private views on the internet, thanks to anonymity

Consequently, we can get a feel for how private views are shifting by reading the comments sections online. People are anonymous, and they say what they think. And by that metric, people's private views are shifting extremely rapidly toward the manosphere...go on any gender-related article online, and the anti-feminist/pro-manosphere comments start appearing almost as soon as the news site hits "Post."

According to a post I saw on /r/AskSocialScience, revolutions generally happen when private views shift on a large scale (but privately) and then suddenly everyone realizes that their private view is actually everyone else's private view too.

I hear lots of talk about "perpetual decline caused by feminism" on TRP, but I think some seismic shifts in our direction are only a few years away.

You would think but it's not going down like that. These "problems without solutions" (feminism, racial, gender, LGBT, basically where you have biological differences but pretend they aren't there so you can spin inequality forever without a possibility of resolution) have been purposely cultivated post-ww2 by the elite. There is a reason western culture is as backwards as it is. With academia and media made purposely liberal, there would need to be an upheavel and certain forces will fight tooth and nail against it. Shame is the social glue that holds society together, that's the model we live under. Things would have to get REALLY bad, think societies showing signs of collapse that actually hurt the elite, for them to allow something different.

[–]lordofthejelly 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

Correct on all points about the elite. However, I believe that is changing.

In the past 10-15 years, the internet has created many cracks in the thought and media control mechanisms of the elite. And in many cases, those cracks were not evident until it was too late for the elite to save their own asses.

Tunisia, Egypt, Syria, Libya, and Yemen in the Arab Spring are all good examples. Iran in 2009, though the elites managed to hold on. Ukraine in 2004 and 2014.

Many of the thought and behavioral controls used by feminism were also in play (by the elites) in all the examples cited, and most of them still fell.

Tl;dr You are correct in how elites set this up. But the rise of the internet has made them far more vulnerable than they were 20 years ago.

[–]1runnerrun20 points1 point2 points 11 years ago* (3 children) | Copy Link

I wish I could share your enthusiasm and if I saw some cracks I would be the first to share it but I'm not seeing them. Yet at least. Only in Europe the right is taking hold over immigration issues but the effects remain yet to be seen. The arab spring was instigated by the elite, the middle east can't be controlled by traditional social engineering like the west so it has to be kept in constant disarray and strife.

Another strong piece of evidence that it's actually only getting worse is gamergate. The one time people cried out against the liberal Narrative that is spun in front of their eyes, it was turned around to be all about misogyny and harasment. Even wikipedia has no mention of the actual causes and discussion that made up gamergate. 4chan crumbled too. People who point out that simple empirical scientific evidence (rooted in biology) contradicts the whole liberal bubble are still ostracised. Canada has a full-blown feminist PM making the most retarded laws as we speak.

The internet has changed things for sure but a lot of pressure (cuz terrorism) is on to reign that in as well.

[–]lordofthejelly 2 points3 points4 points 11 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I wish I could share your enthusiasm and if I saw some cracks I would be the first to share it but I'm not seeing them.

In most of the examples I cited, the big cracks didn't appear until very shortly before the whole thing fell apart.

Picture a dam. It's been holding back water for decades, and cracks have been forming inside that no one can see...the time from when the first crack becomes visible until the whole thing falls apart might only be a few hours.

Picture a volcano. The pressure from the magma beneath the surface has been growing for years. But aside from a bulge or two and some small earthquakes, no signs of the eruption that's about to happen are noticeable.

Nations and cultures are similar. Cracks develop in the social structure over decades, completely invisible and easy to deny. Then some catalytic event happens, and the whole thing can fall apart in mere weeks.

Tl;dr - just because the cracks are currently invisible doesn't mean they aren't there and aren't growing (from both an engineering and a social perspective)

[–]1runnerrun20 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

What I'm saying is that presently I don't see any cracks yet, at least in english-speaking nations. It might come from europe but that will remain to be seen.

What I'm saying is that presently I don't see any cracks yet, at least in english-speaking nations. It might come from europe but that will remain to be seen.

I understand and agree, I don't actually see them either.

What I'm saying is, just because we can't see the cracks yet doesn't mean the cracks aren't there.

Humans created marriage after all, it's a flawed piece of shit for an excuse to have children.

[–]Endorsed Contributorvandaalen14 points15 points16 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

No. Marriage is an agreement and future investment which absolutely makes sense and creates safety, stability and a win-win situation.

The female is guaranteed protection and provision for herself and her offspring while the male is guaranteed an exclusive access to the female's uterus and nurturing for his offspring.

The flawed piece of shit is what modern society with its feminine process of decision making based on feelings rather than on logic and foresight, especially in law, made out of it.

Weddings are a $40 billion a year industry in the United States alone. With less and less men deciding they want to get married, I wonder if we're going to start seeing pro-marriage ad campaigns targeted towards men.

They should hire the same ad agency that does Bud Light commercials.

It is a terrible investment.

The old deal if things went well: marry a neo-virgin at 22, enjoy ~15 years of her looking fairly hot, have as many kids as you both want. Divorce unlikely. Social incentives to encourage you to stay together.

The new deal (in the unlikely event things go well): marry a slut at age 30, hope she's not an alpha widow, panic and try and get the children you both want while she can. Enjoy perhaps 1-2 years of her looking reasonably young and hot before her panic sets in. Try to juggle being as alpha as all her ex's with being beta enough that the relationship doesn't dissolve into you just ignoring her. Navigate through threats of divorce, taking your house, children, etc. Hope against hope it works out while you read on TRP about guys older than you seducing younger hotter women. Point out to your now overweight wife that she needs to up her game. Watch in amazement as she flat out attacks/blames/shames you rather than make any effort to please you or try to compete.

Question - do you guys think that the mrm is a losing battle because of men's protector instinct towards women? Thus causing men biological turmoil and stress.

I see this article touched on it and I never thought of it through that perspective - that men don't like to confront women as a whole and would rather walk away from it because we have always been protectors of women since the dawn of time.

I'd make a post about it but I want to read this book first to gain a better perspective but what do you guys think?

[–]darksoldierk3 points4 points5 points 11 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

I think men feel betrayed. A person who feels betrayed will only ever regret their own stupidity in giving the betraying party trust. It's truly interesting that women completely ignore what men have done FOR them throughout history. Men, who bore the responsibility of supporting their families and the responsibility of protecting their families even at the cost of their own lives. Men who's family's existence depended on their ability to climb the mountain of life with their wives and children on their backs. Instead of recognizing what men have done, they demonize them, they antagonize all men throughout history for the actions of the relative few.

MRM might be a losing battle, but men will do what they've always done, take action. Even if the action is turning their backs on marriage and on women, even if it is against a man's nature, men will do it because men do what they have to, they always have and they always will.

At the end of it all, I just hope that when the next world war comes (and it will) men will stay out of it. I just hope men will say "I will not give up my life to protect a gender or a society that that has spent my whole life telling me that I am evil by nature"....I just hope the draft would no longer exists when that war comes.

[–]Dark_Shroud0 points1 point2 points 11 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Don't judge women for their sexual past.

Old habits die hard than the inverse. To say that one's past should not have a correlation with someone's present is to undermine the modern criminal justice system. Case in point: former behaviors often manifest in the present, so it is not illogical to gauge risk woman-to-woman. As for judging, we are all free to do what we please and likewise we are free to suffer the consequences of our actions.

My favorite comment.

The statistics are from the US census bureau, but I wonder how they break down. For instance, in the graph provided, it states that from 1999 they started included "separated" people into unmarried. That would skew the results by at least a few percent. Furthermore, I wonder how all of this breaks down according to race. I get the distinct feeling that when people talk about the decline of the West or scary numbers of men not marrying, they're referring to WHITE men. If they lump all of the races into this graph, then who knows if hispanic, latino, and blacks are skewing the data in the same way they skew education data. I suspect a crisis is unfolding where there isn't a crisis. TRP has only 100k readers after, what? 2 years? How long has it been, I forget. Even if we include up to 1 million readers if we combine Chateau Heartiste and all of his clones TRP is still a very small percentage.

I personally don't think men are revolting. I think your average middle class white guy still wants to get married and have kids. The outliers have always played around outside of marriage, it's just that the internet can make small communities seem bigger than they are. It's like atheists on reddit thinking they represent a significant percentage of society.

I also suspect that if the stats are truly correct about white kids, then it's just the milliennial generation showing its passive-aggressive emo behavior. Millennials got stuck with the shittiest depression economy of all time and the most college debt. If millennials had the jobs they were promised you wouldn't see any decline in marriage, or decline in other areas as well. Millennial behavior is just the symptom of what's been brewing since the 70s.
