No. And NoFap proves that it’s not a need for men either. It’s not like eating, drinking water, or sleeping. Being able to attract someone sexually seems to be tied into most men’s egos, though. I’m not sure if knowing that they can attract a man for a relationship is a similar need for women.

No, sex is not a need for women. To be technical, sex isn't really a need for men either. What men are really referring to when they call sex a need is the ability to be accepted by a (desirable) woman for sex.

Men's masculinity is tied to being validated by women through sex. A man that cannot attract a woman is not really seen as a man in our culture. Grown males that are not men are seen as useless and disposable, and can often feel dehumanized.

Most women are able to attract men for sex without even trying, so this is not a measure of her worth. In fact, her worth is traditionally measured with how much she resists indulging herself in all the sex she has easily acceptable to her.

So while sex can be fun and feel good for both genders it is only men who have a real social need for sex beyond just animalistic pleasure, lest they be abandoned by the community.

It is, but the timescales are absurdly long for women, compared to men.

While it may take some days maybe weeks for a man to end up suffering in their productivity and happiness by lack of sex, from what I understand it takes years, and sometimes even more than a decade to women to feel the effects in full.

You can see the effects of lack of sex on women who chosen to "not deal with men", who chose to marry virgin (and follow through) or became cat ladies. You can even see when they had sex, by the sudden change in behavior. It is very scary. My aunt brought my attention to this with her friend. One day she wanted to die, the next she was in the gym, finishing her thesis and jumping for joy, all because she couldn't be a virgin until marriage... scary.

I'd probably be considered high libido for a woman, and if I'm really horny I've had physical discomfort to a degree if I can't get off, but it's ALWAYS been easily taken care of by masturbating. I have no idea what it would be like to feel a true "need" to go out and involve someone else in that.

I would say so. I am a 21f and feel like sex is pretty important, especially in a relationship. It allows for deep intimacy, connection, and helps improve you mentally. I feel happier with not only myself but with my relationship when we can have sex on weekly basis. Meaning 2 or 3 times a week. Could go more but it is what it is. You are able to connect and talk about things that are going on, and allow each other to gain insight of how each of you are doing.

There is also meaningless hook ups here and there too. But I guess those could be important to some people. Before my bf and I were together, and I would hook up with people it never made me feel good or love myself more. I did it out of boredom and loneliness.

I don't think sex is really a need for almost anyone. I think social fulfilment/connection is and sex is a great way to fill that need fast (depending on who it's with). I love having sex with my bf, but I also went 2 years between bf's with no sex and was fine with it, but I also spend a lot of time with my sister and have other relationships so wasn't exactly lonely.

It's weird that men are always asking this question.

Obviously we do, but we're more quality over quantity. ONS's usually have a low success rate (and often make you regret the sex altogether) so STR/FB/LTR are preferable.

If I'm single I would rather have a FB I see once a month that a ONS every week, for example.

If you look at r/deadbedrooms it pretty obviously is a need for women. It might be a need for romantic/physical affection rather than explicit sex but to some degree that's kind of splitting hairs and my personal experience is that some women very much want/need to get dicked down.
