I think the mistake some women make is to fail to distinguish between different types of men. I totally get your point.

It reminds me of when people talk about men being over represented as CEOs or high ranking status jobs. It’s not like all those men all have a pact to work together, it’s a brutal environment of intense competition. Most men never make it to the top either.

With regards to predatory men. If you think over hundreds of thousands of years, how much rape and violence existed. Yes, men being largely responsible. But you would still want to be surrounded by and protected by men who had your back, who favoured you, who could defend against outside attacks and attempts to kidnap women (read any ancient texts for fun insight to how common this was)

You might not think there is any distinction to be made between men who are abusive and predatory, and men who are protective and loyal, but that’s largely because we have modified our social environment so much in the last few hundred years.

If shit hit the fan you’d soon discover your instincts when it comes to which men you feel safe around.

Society is all kinds of fucked up now, it has it perks but it also has many flaws.

Just hope you don’t generalise every man. Whilst I understand that men are capable of behaving in terrible ways, there is also an incredible amount of identity politics being played across society during this time, it doesn’t go anywhere good.

Then why are men expected to defend you. Today men need protection from women.

Men know that at any moment a woman could scream that the man did something to her or even simply mad her uncomfortable and his life is ruined.

Men have to worry about offending some woman at work and getting fired. I even try to avoid being alone with women at work because you never know. We have to worry about scorned women making DV accusations.

I think it depends on what actions you are referring to when you say men are the ones you need protecting from.

Sexual assault?

Sure.

Domestic abuse?

Absolutely.

Theft and random assalt on the steet?

Definitely.

Yet, for these reasons I have mentioned, which encapsulate multiple different scenarios, men and women have been perpetrators and victims on these acts.

Neither side is completely innocent and neither side is completely guilty.

There are far more things in the world and in life women require protection from than just men and far more men require protection from than just women.
