My brother-in-law (Manny) had been part of the HR department at a very large NGO for almost a decade now. Two years ago, he got a new boss in the form of an overweight, middle-aged, radical-feminist American black woman. As is to be imagined, she's been a shit boss.

Her entire agenda has been to liberate and uplift the women in her department. Manny is one of only two guys out of a staff of seven. He and the other guy have routinely been taken to task for stupid shit. Additionally, she's re-assigned tasks to ensure that the women handle the important parts of running the department, including pulling Manny's male co-worker off recruitment so she could give it to a woman with half the experience. Manny says that under her watch, approximately three-quarters of all new hires are women.

The organisation has been cutting costs for the past year or so, which means job cuts. She recently did assessments on her department, where she tanked Manny and the other guy. When Manny challenged her on this, she stated that his fate was in her hands as she does recommendations and he might be needing one very soon.

She played with fire,though. See, Manny handles the leave applications for the organisation and part of his bosses' package is that she regularly gets to go back to the States on the organisation's dime. By contacting a few friends in admin, Manny found out that she has regularly inflated the price of her air tickets, choosing the most expensive option each time, whilst making it look like she is doing the opposite. Given that she took five of these trips last year alone( two of them for her sisters' weddings, after which she always came back in even fouler moods) the money adds up, and at this point it would be considered fraud.

Manny has also compiled evidence of other maladministration on her part, including e-mails where she blatantly disregards his expertise in databases to give the job to one of her friends in the department.

Right now, he's sitting on this card, waiting for her to slip up so he can take her out. Score one for the push-back.

Edit: His reasoning for not doing it now is that she's supposed to transfer before the year is out. Apparently she's connected in the organisation, and he wants this as an insurance policy in case things go south. He won't,however, pull the trigger first--not unless he absolutely has to.
