There is a business benefit to hiring fit people.

Beyond the philosophical issues involved with employing people too lazy to protect their own health, it's also expensive for the firm. Out of shape employees get sick more, require more meds,and tax the healthcare system at a higher rate the insurance firms pass on to the business.

Even feminized companies know that fat staff of both genders equals problems. Which is why virtually every major corporation has a fitness rewards club or program. If even one employee per business site uses it and stays out of Blubberville,it could save the firm thousands in healthcare costs and paid time off.

Bob got sick due to weight related illnesses and started to take a lot of medical leaves. One day I was talking to Tom about a case I was covering for Bob. Tom shook his head in disgust. I played football in college, and my senior year was about 195 pounds of all muscle at a height of 6'1'.

After graduating, I didn't really work out as much or as hard as I used to, nor did I run or condition myself nearly as much as I used to. However, I still kept the same dieting habits that they subjected us football players to(basically, eat a shitload).

My metabolism was good enough to where I didn't gain any weight. However, I watched a video of myself jumping off a high dive this past summer and realized how flabby I had gotten. My weight stayed had not gone up too much (205ish) but a lot of my muscle had been replaced with fat and my body fat percentage was too high. I thought since I wasn't adding pounds on the scale, I was fine; but my body slowly traded muscle for fat which is where the flab and fat came from.

I drew the line and began to change my diet and exercise lifestyle immediately. 7 grueling months of dieting & cutting I lost 45 pounds and was back to 160 pounds and 11% body fat.

Moral of the Story - Fatness slowly creeps up on you. It's like a boiling pot of water with a frog in it. You won't realize you are getting fatter and flabbier, and scales will lie to you. The longer you let yourself go and get fat, the longer it will take to undo the effects, which means subjecting yourself to hard, grueling dieting & discipline. You will get fat without noticing yourself getting fat because its such a gradual change.

I don't know if that is true about fat men, but what I do agree with is that good looking and fit men will get hired more often than those who don't take care of themselves despite unattractive people possibly having less of a skill set than the attractive people do. I disagree, I work in IT and we've got some genius-level fat dudes in the department. They eat, sleep and breath IT, and they're the best ones to turn to when you need a hand with something.

There's no way I'd be able to stay in shape if I spent the same amount of time studying and chasing certifications as these guys do. And I'm okay with not being as knowledgeable as these guys, because I need balance in my life. But to suggest that these guys are worthless because they hold different priorities than us is just silly.

I'm one of the most valuable members of my team, have been described as a gold-mine by upper management for the skills and creativity I bring and I'm a fatass, seriously obese, 6'2" 290lbs. I build BI tools and reports that make the execs swoon because our IT infrastructure is garbage, and they've never seen good data.

Of course since I've found TRP I've lost 15 pounds in the last month and am rigorously sticking to my diet. I plan to start working lifting into my schedule but I'm so out of shape and lacking in endurance I have just been doing body weight exercises.

I'm a natural introvert and was never blue pill, but never gave enough fucks to be anything more than my fat lazy gluttonous self because I didn't give a fuck what other's (like you OP) thought of my sloppy appearance. Now that I'm getting somewhere in my career I'm taking my appearance and presence much more seriously because I want to break into management, and as you say I won't get there as a poorly groomed unprofessional looking slob.

I wasted a bunch of years after college stuffing myself with shit food because it was cheap and easy, but am now using the red pill to make myself better.

Not all fat man lack drive or self-discipline, there might just be a few who are earlier on their red-pill existence than you.

Dieting market sells bullshit. Low calorie, low fat, no sugar added, sweeteners, light, natural, full of goodness, organic. All those foods actually make people gain weight, not lose it.

It's a problem similar to bp: people are told how to behave to achieve their goal (be a nice guy; eat diet food) and they try to follow. Results are catastrophic in both cases.

A recent example from my housemate's diet food: a sweetener. 1% sucralose for the sweetnes, 99% filler. They used maltodextrin as filler, which is a tasteless sugar with even higher glycemic index than normal sugar. Calories exactly as in normal sugar. That thing is going to make her even fatter than she is.

A lot of commenters here don't even know if they're fat. Take a measuring tape, and measure your mid-section directly at your bellybutton. If that number is more than 1/2 of your height, you are overweight, PERIOD. Look it up, it's a fact.

As a former fat guy in the chubby stage on the way to being fit, I have to tell you kids it's hard when you are in your 30s to turn your body around. In high school I wasn't ripped, but could squat, on average, 400. Organized contact sports doesn't require definition, though your position on the team can make that a side effect. Most of the big guys you see in football are quite fit with low body fat. They just haven't gone for ripped.

It's easier when you are young, and no, you don't have to get to supermodel physique, but fitness has massive benefits. The less bad fat habits you have, the more not fat you become. You gain higher energy reserves, thus you are able to function on less sleep. Your mental acumen and alacrity increases. Breathing, lifting moving and bending becomes easier in compounded multiples,so that once the tipping point is reached in your weight loss, specifically fat loss, becomes increasingly easier, in a compounded manner.

Your gains will slowly diminish, regardless of your increased activities. At least, visibly. This is the point that many people start actively dieting (which they should have been doing all along, if nothing more than a diet of moderation), and exercising(though you should have been at least walking or jogging the entire time). Whatever you do, don't attempt crashing at this point. It's bad, crash exercising or crash dieting. It doesn't mold your mind and body in a way that gives long term results, and as a matter of course can lead to negative long term conditions.

Consult with your doctor, a dietician, an endocrinologist, and a physical therapist/fitness trainer. Get full work ups. Find out what diet would best benefit you, as well as which vitamins you are deficient in. Start disciplining yourself to learn when and what to eat. There will come a point, even if you used to pound down 8-10 pounds of food a day, that you have to force yourself to eat in order to maintain your diet and schedule. This is the second wall that you have to slam through.

Eventually, you will begin seeing gains again. It will be slow. Small measures. With horrible investment to return ratios. In the end, it'll be worth it. A few things to realize:

Use the passive aggressive hate as fuel. Don't listen to anyone other than an expert. Do this for you. Not for pussy. Not for women. Not for attention. If you can't do it simply for you, then being out of shape is the least of your worries, and truth be told, you actually don't belong here.

Anyone else experience this problem? And more importantly did you rectify it somehow with medication/lifestyle etc?

I work in a physically demanding job so my biceps are half decent, but only if I'm tensing. It's really depressing.

I am pro-fitness all of the way. Obesity is an epidemic of astronomical proportions that will hinder humanity, especially as rises in medical technology help these unhealthy people live longer, shitty lives.

But I can't recall a time when a man DEMANDED to be called attractive when they were overweight. I can't remember a time when obese men stormed the media for calling a celebrity fat. I've never seen an obese man take pictures for social media at obscure angles utilizing unique camera filters to see skinny (maybe that does happen, but I've never personally seen it, whereas I've seen countless women do it).

Everyone should be healthy, but it's the women, from my experience, that don't try and better themselves and would rather try to make others conform, whereas men just sit around like lazy sacks of shit not caring.

I agree with the OP statement. I would say that fat in all forms is a symptom of character that allows you to draw meaningful conclusions as to the other characteristics that make up that person.

Now, to be clear, I read the above as "Fat" and not "chubby" or "a little extra". Everyone, from time to time, can put a little extra on. Sometimes it's health related, sometimes it's lifestyle, and some people are simply yo-yo eaters.

With every stereotype (and be honest, that's what the OP is talking about), there will be exceptions. There will always be that tubby person that's also supremely talented and a hard working, good person that just really likes extra desert. Having said that, stereotypes exist for a reason and I would agree that this one probably correctly captures something in the order of 90% of the population.

Here's the deal... I clocked in at 350 beans at 6'2 at one point in my life at age 20. I lived in this total fog of a world where momma loved me and said everything was gonna be alright.

I somehow by the grace of God, had this extraordinary group of people that cared about me and valued my education when I begged for mercy for a sales job in 2009 after I graduated college.

I somehow listened to all these people, and let me tell you fucking something that is every bit the truth. People like to do business and buy things from people that are not grossly over-weight.

I was grossly over-weight. I loved food, I eat so much junk food, I couldn't believe what the fuck I shoved in my mouth. However, I was this emotional eater in this high stress cooker car dealership.

However, I was walking, hustling, fucking moving my fat ass around that hot pavement of a car lot and working my ass off. I was sweating through dress shirts! What the fuck was I doing with my fucking life.

I got my shit together, sold physicians, sold people that truly gave me advice. I started taking care of myself... And I started reading shit like grooming and inventing in my mother fucking self.

I'm gonna toot my own horn here... But I started fucking killing it. I started going to that fucking gym, I started watching what the fuck I put into my mouth, I started using an electric tooth-brush, I googled penis area grooming.

Then I purchased whitening stripes for my teeth, then I saved some mother fucking money. Then I dropped to 270.

Guess what? Became salesman of the year. Youngest person since 1954 for a huge family owned dealership. Peoples eyes opened. I was a marked man.

Grown ass men hated me, started saying shit... Hating on me. Hating on who is am. Everyday. I work on myself. Every fucking day. Everyday I hustle. Everyday I make myself and my butter-filled temple of a body that I distorted in my own mirrors in my own home.

I worked on myself, and continue to every-mother fucking day.

Then I started reading red pill. Then I woke the fuck up to the sound of that alarm on the fucking dot.

Then I realized that going out to the bars was a waste of time for me... Why? Because I am weak.

I'm fucking weak. Why in the fuck am I going out to a bar when I need to spend more time working on myself and not piling calories of booze into my temple that is still filled half-way full of butter.

Fuck..... More drawing boards.

Cold show time. Time to wake up and breathe the world, feel it, smell it, read it, and pass along some knowledge. My career is amazing. It's already been been stamped six times in a row as a top salesman in a dealership. Woo-fucking woo.

I've got a bunch of glass that I get to take to the grave with me. That's it.

So back to me working on me, this week I hustled at the gym, this week I decided to feel that cold fucking shower. It's time for me to melt the rest of this butter stick that i created down a little bit more.

I have a mind, I have an amazing career, now it's time for me to have a sense of who I am as a man. I learn everyday from the people slaying it at life, and might be able to show a track record for slaying it with my glass bullshit all around my desk, but how in the fuck can I teach it to someone if I carry this half-a-stick of butter that I have left to melt off.

The answer: I cannot. If I cannot take care of my temple and set some rules in my own house, how in the hell am I going to go to the next step in my life at age 28.

The good news is I have time, and I can see a future, all thanks due in part to the community of temple builders I read about on TRP everyday.

Some of you homies are dragon slayers in so many different ways. I will finish my temple walls, and I will educate myself everyday until I can maintain my mother-fuckin temple.

Something I've always wanted to say. I guess this is my letter to my half-way version of myself.

I started at 6'3 110KG at around 20% BF.

In 8 weeks I've lost 10 KG and I'm aiming to continue cutting. I haven't re measured my BF percentage but will soon! Thanks for the post

Look you're not going to like this but I think overweight ment can still add value to the world through their work. They can still be happy, fulfilled, and masculine (albeit at a lesser degree)

Whereas women, by being obese, ruin their chances of being feminine. They ruin their chances of getting a good boyfriend.

Because obesity affect a woman's femininity more than it affects a man's masculinity, I think women should really put their health as a high priority. More so than men.

Yes you are a fucking loser if you are fat. I recall the epiphany I had when after two months of heavy lifting, and was down to 245 pounds. While at the gym, I heard a female voice like trying to flirt with me. I turned and saw this fat, disgusting, double chinned, glasses wearing siren. "Who is this overconfident monster who think she has a shot with me?", I thought to myself. And then it dawned on me, that my "King of Queens" mentality of the nice, good natured, fat dude with the hot women on his arm (my wife who I met when I was in shape is hot, further reinforced my mistaken world view) is entitled to a beautiful woman is Hollywood bullshit. It was not until I got down to 245 and had been lifting so I had some semblance of muscular arms and shoulders at least, that I was even scratching the surface of what a female human who is capable of walking will consider worthy of her sexual attention. For me, 245 was the absolute bottom of the barrel. And because of how skewed the sexual market place is, you know the type of woman I am talking about. Dreadful. Before 245, I simply had no options. Zero options. My bank account, nice clothes, respectable job, confidence, humor etc. meant nothing. I had no SMV. So yes, if you are fat, you are a loser. I was one.

FWIW, until I got down to 225, I didn't get any IOI from any woman that I would even consider marginally attractive and worthy of fooling around with.

I judge alot of people on the shape they are in and how they walk and it seems that I have to keep repeating "why did you hire that fat slow guy? he is never going to be able to do this job."
