I’m dumping a guy I like because we don’t agree with the future. Old me would stick around and hope that he would change his mind. Not anymore.

I’ve been dating a guy for the last five months and I really liked him. But he wants to travel the world for a couple of years and I would rather settle down instead. I don’t mind having fun at the beginning for like a year but not five+ years like his timeline. I’m a woman and I would like to have kids before 35.

We basically both do not want the same things in life and to me, it seems like he is dating for the hell of it until he leaves the country in two years to “find himself” by traveling or whatever. I wanted marriage and kids and he wants to just spend his late twenties and early/mid thirties traveling without a woman or family tying him down.

He’s a very nice and caring guy but it ends here. Maybe we can be friends in the future, but I need to distance myself from him for a long time. I’ve already muted him and deleted the app we talk on.

I’m done and walking away. I want to know, did any of you guys go through a situation like this?

Edit: I really appreciate you guys’ comments. Thank you. It was a very hard decision. He’s not a bad guy at all but there is just no future between us. Men really don’t change and I want to nip this in the bud. This dude is TOO into his career, the problem is that he wants to hop every year or so to a different continent for the foreseeable future and get a different job every year in those countries... it sounds like a fantasy dream that he hasn’t figured out yet and I do not want to be a part of that mess waiting for him to come back or some crap. I’m glad I only wasted five months and not more than that. You are all so supportive.
