Incredible look into the male mind. His girlfriend lives with him rent-free, which he sees as generous but is actually potentially dangerous for her and controlling on his part. She needs to be independent for her own security and safety and not be his quasi kept woman. Reading this thread and all his other comments made me so fucking angry. He actually had the AUDACITY to claim that he "spoils" his girlfriend:

My impression is that this norm of the man paying is something quite uniquely American. In most countries in Europe I believe many women would be somewhat insulted by the implication of "Oh, I am a woman so I must not be able to pay for myself since I am not an independent person" and other similar thought.
