Tired of my 3 male roommates thinking that I’m their maid so I left them a note. They all texted me very butthurt saying “who is this directed at?” This is the attitude men have towards women; that women should clean up after them.

My God I would rather die than have three male roommates. Literally are you ok? Is your blood pressure skyrocketing?! I had ONE at one point and despite my attempts at "communication" he demonstrated the intelligence of a Neanderthal on benzos and refused to do even the most basic things around the house. He considered sweeping the floor once every 1-2 weeks to be his contribution 🥴 And also was caught jerking off in a communal space once, like dude you have a fucking bedroom. Never again....

'this is so rude and pointless lol, why are you being emotional about this? imagine coming home from a hard day of work and you see that on the fridge? you should keep cleaning what you use and if they dont want to clean up their section then just leave it. have you tried asking them politely? if you want to live in a clean house then move out and get your own place'

if you posted that picture on any mainstream reddit community i imagine thats what the response would be but here at FDS we dont have patience for LVM. theres a basic level of cleanliness thats universally accepted and i dont think its demanding to want that

I had a roommate who left dishes out all the time and never cleaned, so I just took them directly out of the sink and threw them on her floor, as they were. I don’t miss having roommates.

I lived with 3 boys in a flat in college for a year. They had a terrible habit of starting and finishing milk I bought and clearly labeled for myself and when I brought it up, they brushed it off with a “SoRrY i DiDn’T rEaD iT” and a promise to replace it which they never did.

Having done this twice in a a weekend with 2 1 gallon jugs (yes, they drank the replacement I bought myself too), I bought a third new jug and laced it with a full bottle of laxatives.

They never touched my milk again.

Any time they leave a mess for you that is out take a pic of it and send it to them. "Hey you guys left a sink full of dishes. Its gonna cost you $5, take it off what I owe in rent." And continue. "You guys left a full trash can its stuffed and overflowing $5".

Seriously start a tactic where you give them less money in rent or if the lease is in your name start tacking on extra. You could even word it like "I needed to but extra dish soap, paper towels, toliet paper, etc" since you guys never clean and don't seem to notice. Male roommates are worse than actual pigs.

Yep. I no longer leave notes. It never worked. I also currently have 2 female roommates who do this as well. It was just me and one male roomate taking out the trash. Theres 6 of us in total (4 female 2 male) so it was just him and I taking out trash for 6 people. One female thinks taking out the trash is "too masculine". Well I guess you better grow a testy or two bc I will not be the house maid and she got angry because "she's a lady", but she certainly doesn't act like it trying to be queen of the entire house, telling us how we never clean. I clean my own area and return to my domicile undisturbed. Right now, the garbage can is turned over and no one uses it (they're too lazy to turn it over and I have been using my own bag separate from the can to not contribute to it). I alreaded wanted the can out because I knew saying anything would not make a difference. The other female roomate has nothing to say but has the nerve to complain when the garbage stinks. I've half a mind to put an "Out of order" sign on the can. Lol but I'm trying not to be petty in 2021. New year new goals.

OMG I lived overseas for my internship when I was studying for my bachelor degree. I ended up in a house with 5 other male roommates and I was the only woman. It’s was so DISGUSTANG I was uncomfortable every second I spent in that house. Imagine sharing a bathroom and kitchen with 5 stinky, unmannered, hairy, disrespectful men. Fortunately I was always in my room or in the garden where it was alright. But never ever fucking again in my life.

When I was younger I always told myself that I would never live with roommates (woman or male) when I would go to college. And my time abroad confirmed that my feelings and thoughts were justified. I’d rather keep living at home while I save to buy my own property than live with roommates ever agains.
