Yep! Getting death threats as we speak from an ex. He is posting videos with my full first and last name slandering my name while threatening death. YouTube refuses to remove the videos. Police refuse to press charges. All with an active restraining order. If he wasn’t bound to another state for parole (for his animal crimes not all the rape and abuse they refuse to prosecute) I’d be fucking dead already.

Wtf. I am so sorry.
Is it okay if I follow you on here to make sure you are okay? I am worried about you.
If you haven’t already, I would inform your closest police station about the situation. They may or may not be willing to keep an eye out for you.
I hope you find safety from him.

Oh the local police don’t give a fuck, but I’m close with my neighbors and they all keep an eye out for me. My neighbors are almost all retired and home all the time so there is some safety in that. Im 38 but they all see me as a young whipper snapper that helps them with “computers” and has no problem yelling at a customer service rep for them so they benefit keeping me as an alive neighbor as well. That and the whole getting murdered thing would bring down home values

Unrelated, but please don't yell at the cust. service reps. 99% they're following company policies which they have no control over. Source: my first job was a cust. service rep

Oh, I generally agree, except this case was warranted, Egypt air was trying to refuse my 80 year old neighbor a refund for his round trip to Egypt. His return date was after they shut the airport down for Covid and they lied to him repeatedly saying he would be able to return (literally no) and that they couldn’t refund him because reasons (none of which were true) and literally suggested this 80 year old man just fly one way to Egypt at the start of the pandemic knowing the airport will be shut down with no way to return and no notice of when he might be able to. At that point I don’t care if they are doing as they are told or reading a script, no 80 year old should be lied to about his rights to a refund and then told to fly one way into Egypt at the start of a pandemic.

I'm so sorry for what you're going through!
Do you have family and friends that know about this and are on your side? Can they watch over you? Even if the police doesn't do anything, it's good you're leaving a paper trail. Please stay safe!
[–]steeped_tea123 216 points217 points218 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Its so sad how true this is.
[–]GodILoveTheEnglishFDS Newbie 480 points481 points482 points 5 years ago (10 children) | Copy Link
Ugh. It's so true, and males like Donald Glover can stand up and make jokes about it and that's the only time males will ever listen to it... but then they'll take it as a joke like "haha yeah I bet!" and then do nothing to change it
[–]lateglowerFDS Newbie 205 points206 points207 points 5 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link
Yep, and think they’re not crazy because they haven’t murdered a woman.
[–]SellingGloomFDS Newbie 130 points131 points132 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
Wow, seriously great point. Men think they're adequate just because they DON'T murder a woman and then feel comfortable making zero changes in their misogynistic behaviors.
[–]rightioushippie 10 points11 points12 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Because they sure have wanted to har har. Get it? /s
[–]NetflixBingeQueenFDS Newbie 184 points185 points186 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
They do try to change it - by posting meaningless statements like “Let’s do better men” or “we need to protect our women” and Pat themselves on their back for telling men off and move on.
/s
[–]madeleineruth19FDS Newbie 148 points149 points150 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
They’ll post “protect women, call out your friends” and then log onto Call of Duty and laugh at all their friends’ rape jokes.
And "protect the woman" is usually just their mothers or sisters. Not other women outside of their familial circle.

Yup

I want to add that in many cases, when men have a story about a “crazy” woman, they are lying. When most men call a woman “crazy” you’re only hearing the part of the story that comes after them lying to, hurting, manipulating and/or straight up abusing this particular woman. When they describe the “crazy” behavior they are describing it as a unique event rather than a reaction to something so of course it sounds crazy to everyone else.
In some cases, they just make up these stories completely because the woman rejected them.
[–]jackrusselterror1FDS Disciple 19 points20 points21 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yep.
It’s pretty well-known that the most dangerous types of men use pity to ensnare new victims. The story doesn’t have to be real (it often isn’t, or it’s distorted). This is one of the reasons why if a guy starts unloading past trauma very soon into a relationship, it’s a red flag. At the very best case, he’s expecting way too much emotional labor from you and he’s socially inappropriate, at the worst case he’s trying to hook a new target.
Often crazy ex stories are reversed perpetrator and victim. They’ll take something they did to their partner and pretend their partner did that to them. I’m never surprised when a man who claims he was cheated on in previous relationships cheats on his new girlfriend.

Wow, because fewer live to tell. Chilling.
Also I can attest there are no parades when you put some stalking psycho coworker in jail. You learn not to talk about it because bystanders are like "Um, errr..." and start looking at you like you're bad luck whom trouble follows.

We're telling them. But then we're labeled as sexist... Or in FDS' case, a hate sub.

B-B-But we don't revere men :(((((
[–]donttextme_kFDS Newbie 22 points23 points24 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Men define crazy as their girlfriend getting too “emotional” because he doesn’t do the bare minimum or she cried because he ignored her. All gaslighting

I came to argue my ex was crazy but not murderous. But then I remember us driving home from a night out drinking and he was belligerently drunk. I told him to stop acting like a baby then he got so so so ridiculously mad. Started waving his hand gun around. O was thinking im gonna die, but I was so mad he was being so stupid I kept mocking him like oh wow youre so bad ass waving your gun out the window. Then he kept screaming at me to pull over the car so I finally did and he got out and started walking off so I got out to argue with him and we got into a fist fight. Then when we finally got home he took off walking. I tried to find him, but got annoyed and gave up after a couple of trips around the neighborhood. Then he called me at 6 am telling me how im such a piece of shit for not coming to find him and that he was done with me. Unfortunately that wasn't the last of our relationship. It ended about 6 months after that though. My husband is such an easy man to be around. I feel so lucky to have someone that cares about me and my feelings. We aren't perfect, but we always make up after we argue and we never everrrr get physical or scream at each other
[–]rightioushippie 37 points38 points39 points 5 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link
What kind of reasonable person doesn't drive around all night looking for the person that just threatened them with a handgun? lmfao
[–]LucysFakeTitsFDS Newbie 4 points5 points6 points 5 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link
I wasted 18 to 24 with him. I didn't realize how abnormal our relationship was until I started dating someone that wasn't mean to me. I didn't value myself at all. I was so desperate for him to love me I convinced myself we were soul mates since we had been through so much traumatic shit and were still together lol. It's embarrassing and dumb. I would separate him in my mind, the mean hateful him and the "nice" him. I felt alone until I found this sub and realized how common it is for women to waste time on the most hopeless useless mean men.
[–]rightioushippie 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Yes. I think so many of us have been there. Your story is funny because of how true it is. You are wonderful and strong and you deserve for someone to drive around all night looking for you.
[–]seawitchbitchFDS Newbie 19 points20 points21 points 5 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link
Also crazy ex girlfriend stories are “funny.” Crazy ex boyfriend stories are perceived as “being dramatic/hyperbolic, playing the victim, complaining, etc.” They are fundamentally not perceived the same way.

I forget who it is but there's a woman stand up who has a bit about how women watch true crime to take notes. 🙃 Sadly kinda accurate.

Dang, you have a link? That’s totally me, and I make no apologies. 😅
I googled this and all I found was the SNL “Murder Shows” skit. (Which was still pretty accurate, if we’re being real.)

Fearing for my life because of a man is the main reason I have been single for around 2 years. My ex made plenty of threats and I honestly feel like this is the norm. I don't want to be murdered and this is sadly a possibility for ALL women involved with any man.

Alice Fraser is so wonderful. She has an hour long special on Amazon that’s fantastic. Deep thoughts, quirkiness, stage presence. She’s charming and hilarious without being crude or offensive. Which is funny too, but sometimes becomes a crutch.

Have any faves?? Shoutout to Iliza Shlesinger & Ali Wong. Hilarious ladies!!

Ali wong is great, Hannah gadsby is great too. There are so many other female comedians that are legit hilarious, but their entire routine revolves around pickmeism. It’s so disappointing
