Well, people do make a lot of horse shit in finances just to get better cars, houses, clothes and other stuff to boost their SMV.Here in Brazil this is quite common between men. Young men "do everything" to get laid.

Career is a better indicator for that, at least you can measure some potential and have some expectations. But anyway it´s definitively something that people do pay attention, a lot more when you are talking / dating people who are older and experienced.

Yes. There was that story forever ago about that guy who faked being an israeli diamond merchant to scam women and he had his pick of the litter while also grifting them for all they're worth and none of them saw through it until it was too late because they were riding the emotional high of landing a rich high status jet setter snd didn't question it. It matters more if she is possibly lacking in that matter. If not, it won't be a decisive factor. Your financial success has to be complementary. A woman who is perennially short of cash, will indeed prioritize landing a financially successful man. The other ones, not necessarily. For them, it will rather be a disqualifier than qualifier.

Income, career, and status are more to do with RMV not SMV. And this is largely true for men although it is still a factor for women.

Career is still a big factor in assessing someone's affluence and potential for achieving a certain affluent lifestyle in their 30's and beyond. That's why doctors and investment bankers/hedge fund guys are in great demand. As certain job titles become more mainstream and known, their salaries become better known in the dating market too. So these days people generally know what the salary range of a data scientist working at FAANG would be compared to even just 10-15 years ago because data science jobs are now mainstream.

Going into debt for increased RMV may work shot term but it's akin to shooting yourself in the foot. Sure you may get the women/man, but you'll lose them AND you'll end up on the streets if you can't repay this debt.So really, it's a poor strategy for LTR; you may see success in casual hookup scenario perhaps.

Depends, too many variables involved here. Firstly let's talk RMV not SMV (for the reason I mentioned earlier). What is an interesting career - Arts? What is a mediocre salary - $60K? And these questions critically depend on whom you're asking.

Its a valid solution, although not a particularly good one. Sure, countless studies show that men are seen as more attractive in the context of wealth. Its just that the amount of wealth symbols require makes it so that its probably more sustainable to just paying for sex.

Historically, these have been "indicators" of wealth but not *proof* of wealth. The challenge for folks who pay attention to such things is that these "indicators" are available to almost anyone who is able to borrow money... which today is just about anyone who can fog a mirror. (Arguably we're back to 2007/2008 in terms of credit availability.) So, two people may appear to have the same status, but one person owns these status symbols while the other is merely renting them. Most women can't tell the difference until well into a relationship.

In the short term, yes; in the long term, no. Look at all of those mortgage brokers from the 00s that were driving around in fancy cars and renting high-end homes only to blow up and move back into their mothers' basements by 2010. It worked for a while... until it didn't. You can only fake it until you make for so long. At some point you do actually have to make it or risk being a perma-clown.

Unless women start to actually scrutinize men’s dating profiles en masse, and men start to actually complete their profiles honestly/completely, en masse, I don’t think career/wealth have much bearing on casual sex. At least not casual sex mediated by online dating apps. Pretty much every app I’ve been on has migrated to a swipe mechanism. So if a person’s pic game is shit, their sexual success rate will reflect that.

That said, some women do read profiles. I’ve experimented with including and excluding my profession on my dating profiles, and my match rate is noticeably higher when I share that I’m a physician.

So to answer your question, I think career/perceived wealth/status/etc helps somewhat in getting laid. But it can’t overcome being fat, having shitty genes, or otherwise being ugly.

I think if you are using money to attract girls I think having a $80k+ car (doesn't matter if it is leased), a nice apartment or house in a desirable area living alone maybe $2.5k+ month rent for an apartment. Nice furniture. Money to take out to expensive restaurants, events, and vacations. Several weekend get aways a year to a nice resort/hotel. Buy expensive gifts for birthday, Christmas, Valentine's, anniversary. Treat her to some free shopping gifts here and there. Wear nice clothing, expensive jeans, shoes.

That level of spending and above will make a difference on the level of girl dated I have seen that with my own eyes with friends that are NOT attractive but pulled way above their punching power.

Any job title that is not something sexy like pilot, musician, actor, firefighter, doctor etc... like region manager or whatever won't matter if you are looking to date/get laid don't matter. What matters is what kind of experience she has dating you. If she feels much higher levels of luxury and relaxation being with you rather than single, then she starts to see you as someone to spend time with, not necessarily highly sexually attracted to.

I’d consider a variety of things as indicator of wealth. Career is usually a big one. You don’t know how much they make but you can ballpark a range. You also know if the job salary has a ceiling.

Yes, car, house and neighborhood you live in are also clues. Clothes you wear and your hobbies can also say a lot. You can kinda tell wealth from looking at someone’s photos. Where do they go, where do they eat, who they hang out with, etc.

Even talking to someone, you can get a feel for their attitude around money or spending. Someone could have no job but if their family comes from money, they will have a different vibe about things.

Only for dumb people. Personally, some sort of degree and some sort of career making 50k or more is fine for me, and my income over my lifetime will be significantly more than that. But that's enough money for, combined with mine, a comfortable living situation and the ability to have a child.

Men with flashy cars and houses are not at all appealing. I always assume there is something going on beneath the hood-- some sort of crazy debt or just craziness. And if it's just mommy/daddy money, that brings up a whole host of other problems with general value system as I was not handed things in my life and that molded my outlook.

I am not compatible with a man who "needs" expensive cars and large houses to signal his wealth to others. I dated a man that had some sort of fancy infinity 897485 whatever and a big ol marble palace house and he was shook that I did not give a fuck. What does that have to do with me? When you're dating someone there is a very small chance it will make it to marriage. I have my own money and career, enough to be comfortable. I was quite literally not impressed, and he turned out to be a douche (of course). I would have been much more impressed with a man with more modest belongings/income who was an exceptional human being-- that is what I want to settle down with.

I personally find wealth symbols to be associated with men who prioritize appearances way too much, which is a big turn off for me. It’s especially cringe if they are eating ramen every day just so they can afford designer clothes and a fancy car to look richer than they are. It’s just cringey and gives off the impression that they are insecure and also look down on people they perceive as “poor”.

Buying fancy things all the time also looks like a spending addiction to me, which indicates poor self control and too much importance placed on material goods.

That being said, I don’t think this applies to a man’s home, since having a warm and welcoming home shows they are planning for the future and are willing to invest in a comfortable environment for themselves, guests, and potentially a future wife.

If the man in question is so wealthy he doesn’t know what to do with it all, then I don’t consider buying luxury items to be cringey. It’s more about those who make stupid financial decisions for the sole purpose of keeping up appearances. Going into debt to do that couldn’t be a bigger turn off. Look at Anfisa and Jorge from 90 Day Fiancé — that man went into major debt to look like he could provide the lifestyle he promised Anfisa, and he was outed for being the loser he is when she found out it was all a lie. Women do not want a man like that.
