This is just marketing and hype from corporate Tinder to impress their investors. If you think about it the app really hasn't evolved or changed much in the 8 years it's been around. There's a lot of competition from other apps. And young people are notorious for finding obscure platforms and ways to communicate.

When Tinder came on the scene plentyoffish was seen as the website for old people and trashy people to date/hook up. I don't know if it's still around but Tinder could become a footnote in 10 years of they don't find ways to make it more unique or appeal to gen z.

I’ve been trying to tell people on PPD for a while now, Tinder IS NOT just a “hookup” app anymore, lots of people I know have gotten into relationships thanks to Tinder. 90% of people I know use Tinder in the hopes of getting a relationship. 50% of all new relationships start out with OLD.

Very rarely do I meet someone who uses tinder for casual hookups anymore.

Yet I constantly have millennials on PPD try and convince me Tinder is a hookup app and isn’t used for relationships.

They also brought up Bridgerton. Trends show courting is coming back.

Sounds to me like marketing buzz. They're already raking billions, so why would they need to put any effort into making their apps more convenient? Even if they did those "advancements", nothing major would change, because those whom seek casual hook ups will continue to and the rest will continue to exist as dust. In the end, it's the user who gets the blame, not host.

hinge is the new "slower app" that is "designed to be deleted" but every girl I met on there pushes me for sex after 1 or 2 dates, then I just feel like it's not serious. Almost every OLD app is a hookup app. Some hookups do turn into relationships though.

Sounds like an attempt to Tiktokify it to appeal to the youngsters. Lots of people use tinder primarily or secondarily to get new social media followers or website clicks anyway.
