The second person in as many days arguing against equality as soon as it doesn't advantage women

It's already too easy for men to cry foul every time a woman says or does anything they don’t like...Some people even ask the question: "Does misandry exist?"...because misandry seems to be thrown around (generally at women) for some pretty tenuous things

The exact same thing can be said about women accusing men of misogyny as soon as he says something she doesn't like, or for tenuous things. So if the basis of her argument is that a law penalizing misandry will be misused for petty things, that's certainly an equally valid argument against a law penalizing misogyny

It is the ultimate example of whataboutery – when a group of people cries, "But what about X?"...

No, it's a simple matter of people being protected equally under the law

...to distract attention from any legitimate discussion of Y.

Here she's assuming that the intention of people who want men included is to distract from women. It could be simply because some people want actual equality, or want men to be protected from hate crimes. Would she also assume that anyone who talks about female suicide is doing so to distract from male suicide?

when we talk about misogyny, we are talking about the global societal issue of the life-threatening prejudice, hatred, harm, oppression, rape, marginalisation and harassment of women and girls purely based on their gender – millions of women and girls being mutilated, sold, objectified, dehumanised and even murdered for being female.

Or we're talking about scantily clad women in video games, or a man wanting to use a sex robot, or a man not doing the housework, or "manspreading", or "mansplaining", or other "microagressions" men are accused of

Misandry, on the other hand, seems to be anything a woman says or does that any man doesn’t like

Or it's "kill all men", or "men are trash", or men getting disproportionately longer prison sentences, or the social acceptance of forced genital mutilation against male children, or the marginalization of male victims of DV or sexual abuse

Both misogyny and misandry are actual things that some people commit. And both are also terms that are sometimes misused to describe petty things. So ultimately, her argument for why misandry shouldn't be illegal but misogyny should be is one-sided

"hatecrimes' are bullshit. Either a thing is a crime or it isn't. Giving longer sentences because it's a 'hatecrime' is not going to deter assholes who commit crimes, but it is going to energize the knuckledraggers whose grievance bars need refilling. Of course the identiarians hate it when the flaw in their little plan is revealed. EVERYONE is in a special group! But we only want hate crimes to exist for the groups WE like. Hating someone alone should not be criminalized. As bad as misogyny/misandry are, I'm not for criminalizing someone for feeling hatred toward a group (no matter how unreasoned) or even voicing it.

Obviously if that leads them to making crimes like hurting people or making threats of non-defensive violence, it's another matter.

Of course, misandric feminists are crafty and can find ways to toe the line, like talking about wearing penis-severing devices in case they are "raped" and implying the dentatification of innocent men they seduce.

Misogyny should obviously not be criminal for the same reasons. I suppose I should try and imagine if there is a male version of the above. Are there any men toeing the line with free speech in ways which are basically threats of violence which we should encourage voluntarily curbing (or shunning) if it disrupts goodwill?
