It's probably much higher than 10% actually. Even 20-30% is a relatively conservative estimate if you look at the minimum/maximum and then take anecdotes from law enforcement into consideration.

There's an enormous amount of controversy about that figure also. The actual number is somewhere between 3 and 40%. No one has any idea how many rape accusations are truly false. We also, apparently, can't even agree on the definition of rape so who's definition are we using?

So according to wikipedia they're both right, depending on what study you look at and where you are. Firmest number I could find in the article was "while researchers and prosecutors do not agree on the exact percentage of false allegations, they generally agree on a range of 2% to 10%."

It's not an actual number then.

In reality that is the LOWBALL range of what can be shown to be false.

That isn't the same as the rest are true, since clearly there are cases of rape with insufficient evidence which doesn't tell us whether it is false or true. With a conviction rate of 60% for those who go to trial, that leaves a significant portion of cases cannot be said to be true or false.

Landing a conviction not necessarily meaning it is true notwithstanding.

These days the true definition of rape is so hard to tell that the percent is probably closer to 20%. I've known women who said 'yes' but then regret it afterwards and decide they didn't like it so they assume they were tricked into sex.

It's only 3% if you consider not proven and/or unspecified cases as legit rape cases. If you use logic and don't do that, you learn that over 40% of all rape accusations are either wrong or not proven.
