I saw a statistic that 85% of divorced people are married 5 years after their divorce. I then looked at prenups. The most effective prenup is that whatever is in your name is yours, whatever is in her name is hers and whatever is in both of your names is split. No alimony, everyone lives independent and separate lives after the divorce. This would have saved me a ton of money.
My ex and I never had a join account because it’s a pain in the butt, so most of the money was in my name , brokerage, 401k, it would have been awesome if I could have kept all of it. This prenup makes you discuss things during the marriage, for example where do we put that bonus in, and also makes the wife work harder to keep a good job and put money in her accounts. In my marriage I did all the work, earned all the money and only during the divorce did she get interested in finances, to extract as much as she could. If we had this prenup I think she would have been more interested in earning money because she wouldn’t have me to rob. (That’s how I feel, like I was robbed by a thief).
