Yup. Take the lead on asking him out, and you're going to be taking the lead on everything in the relationship. He's not looking at you like a prize. He's looking at you like an option, and more specifically, an option that's preferable to having no options.

A woman I know is in this relationship. She asked her now husband out in the most public, cringe-worthy way, and a few years later, she ended up being the one to ask him to marry her, also in a public, cringe-worthy way. It's clear she's always taking the reins, and he's just along for the ride because why not. Don't be a why not woman.

Yeah this is why, despite all the rage and frothing about how dare we expect men to ask us out, or pay for the date, well….if you wait long enough, men themselves admit that they don’t value women who chase them and when they are really into a woman, they are never too “shy” to pursue and paying for her is a pleasure. Men in my actual life told me this as well, but my libfem 🤡ass didn’t want to listen.

The way I see it, I’m finally listening to these men. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Ok I might be ignorant in saying this, but 6'2" and 140lbs is very underweight for that height right? It sounds like it could be made up based on that.

If you let a man know you like him, he'll try and get something out of you even if he doesn't like or respect you in the slightest. Learned this the hard way very recently. This is why it frustrates me when people complain about women not approaching more. Worst that will happen if you're a man approaching a woman is that she says no, which I know hurts, but I'm afraid I don't think it's as bad as what could happen in the reverse scenario. Worst that could happen if you're a woman approaching a man is that he says YES but doesn't actually like or respect you in the slightest, maybe isn't even attracted to you. I'm never telling a man I'm interested in him first ever again.

I remember reading somewhere many years ago (wish I could remember where!) that relationships where the man pursued the woman first were more likely to result in marriage. Have seen this play out IRL.

The best piece of relationship advice when I was in my twenties was from an older married woman who told me when I was complaining about another failed date, “ The man has to love you more” as a lib fem I thought that was so offensive it should be equal, but men are not the same. They’re not raised to be nurturing, or to sacrifice , to make accommodations, or to compromise. They’re raised to take what they want, to fight for it, and biologically they are wired to chase. As soon as they feel they have you completely they just stop trying, and then they resent you because they’re bored. They should always be on edge, and feel like you could walk away at any sign of disrespect. That’s why it’s so important to not build our lives around them. When I joined a year ago a wise lady here said to remember there’s not enough HVM, and you have to make peace with that. She said to imagine the rest of your life without a man. Every significant event, birthdays, graduations, weddings. I cried so hard, because I didn’t want to imagine it. I felt incomplete. A year later I can, and I’m actually looking forward to my life traveling around the country in my RV with my pets. Just us. I know I won’t ever have to worry about being cheated on again, manipulated, gaslit, lied to, dismissed, and relying on someone to be there for me when I’m sick, just to leave me because it’s too much work. I’m grateful for the time I had with my late husband, and I’m grateful for having that at least once in my life.
