To me, the biggest problem is the lack of creativity. Let's say Applebee's is what he can afford, and I'll just throw out that it would cost $40 for food, drinks, and tip on the low side. I know a lot of great places you can go for that amount that are around that amount. You can (well, could pre-pandemic) get cheap tickets to the theater and a post-show donut for that amount. I don't need a guy to blow a ton on me, but making me feel special is nice.

Aww come on! I like applebees lol. My sister and I would go when they had the two for $20 deals with my little niece. The people there were always nice to us.

Applebees is garbage. The funny thing is he could have taken her to a small, interesting restaurant that may even have been cheaper than Applebee's and it would be a good date. It's not the money, it's the lack of thought.

Applebee's is an expensive McDonald's. I won't go there at all.
