Before dating my NVX, I was very naive and idealistic about relationships. I wanted to “communicate” and “be open”, so I told him that some of his actions were making me insecure. This ended up being a huge mistake.
Although some insecurity is natural, our society does not treat it that way. Instead, insecurity is seen as a failure of character. It is associated with being overly emotional and irrational. Instead of seeing insecurity as a valid and OFTEN CORRECT instinctual response to suspicious behavior, our society sees it as some level of “craziness”. Convincing one’s partner that they are crazy is a common trademark of gaslighting, and admitting any level of insecurity to a man gives him the power to do this to you.
My NVX used my insecurity to explain away everything. I didn’t like his porn addiction? I was too insecure. I didn’t like him talking to me about hypothetically dating other girls? I was too insecure. I didn’t like the pictures he sent me with other girls in his lap? I was too insecure. Every time I tried to confront him for something, the conversation ended with an apology - from ME - for having been so insecure and irrational. He was just behaving like all other men, after all, and I was unreasonable for not accepting it.
Even if you think you’re more insecure than average, DON’T admit this to a man. Better yet, don’t date until you’ve built more confidence. Letting men know that you feel ANY insecurity at all is a liability and can be used against you. There is no need for “openness” and “communication” early on. He does not deserve to know your true feelings.
If his actions are making you feel insecure, just block and delete. Don’t overthink it and DON’T try to communicate it to him. Your instincts are sending you a message for a reason and a “conversation” would just give him the opportunity to gaslight you. Remember, an HVM would not have made you feel insecure in the first place. He’s trash.

This includes even talking about situations where you think you were treated unfairly.
I spoke at work about how I didn’t like that a department I’d worked in was mismanaged and my promotion had taken longer than others. I viewed this as me standing up for myself and calling for accountability.
But people automatically assume if a woman is talking about something, she’s super bothered by it and it has a psychological hold on her.
My standing up for myself and expressing a wrong was viewed as my expressing trauma/ a weak point/ point of insecurity.
Why are you so bothered?? Ugly smile became the point of discussion.
Suggestion was made I must be mentally unstable to even still be thinking about it. Although everyone was promoted at the same time, my promotion had taken several years longer than everyone else, and in some cases I had been asking for one before the newly promoted people had even shown up.
But there was a binary- either pretend not to notice entirely and not say a word, like it never happened OR be labeled cRaZy and “overinvested”
Both men and women alike tried to use the info against me like they had discovered some special secret knowledge about me and my insecurities to hold against me, even though I was the one who openly told them and everyone else point blank. It reached the point where it was being viewed as a personal hangup or emotional trigger point of mine. Like I was hanging on emotionally to the past and had obvious issues moving on, when really I just didn’t want it to pass unaccounted for.
Be careful about even standing up for yourself or speaking out on unfair situations, people will assume feeling and emotional overinvestment, even if you have every right call it to account. It can be spun out as trauma and insecurity

I was just looking at the IG of this incredibly smart female professional I knows bf.
Super successful. He himself is a former reality tv contestant but the only people he follows is pretty women of a certain racial persuasion.
Theyre not thots or thirst traps outright but very IG model, living my best life, young and sexy.
4k people and I only counted one male account he follows. Barely a single man, just all pretty women of one race.
I said damn. What this guy doing.
For reference, they’ve lived together at least 3 years, take foreign vacations together and are talking about planning a family, bringing a baby into the pic although they aren’t married.
I just found it shocking that she’s so respected her field and he would be so openly and publicly following so many pretty women pages. Not thirst trap pages per se but definitely young, sexy and not afraid to show it, pages by the literal thousands
It’s insane because she is so strict and boundaries and almost scarily on point and not one to play with in her professional life, it’s alarming to me she’s allow all that in her personal life
