My favorite middle school sex ed story involves a discussion of the female orgasm. A teacher told us that women do have orgasms, but not every time they have sex. One of the boys in my class was visibly outraged at the unfairness of this- he clearly enjoyed his orgasms very much and thought it was bullshit that it didn't work the same way for girls. I've always wondered if he grew up to be a generous lover.

I had my sex ed in Texas. Not awful, not religious or anything. But completely ignored a good portion of female anatomy. The female orgasm wasn't talked about at all. When I was in middle school, they separated boys and girls because I guess 12 year old boys will be scarred for life if they learn about periods too. This is how you end up with men who think period blood comes out of our urethras. I understand they probably wanted to separate us so girls could ask questions about our bodies without boys around which is good but it does come with its problems if they never educate them at all.

I went to a religious school and straight up did not get sex ed or any biology about private areas whatsoever. I seriously learned more about my vagina from the how-to booklet in a box of tampons.

I went to a Catholic school and I'm really glad they separated church and 'school'. We were taught in the 6th grade about everything including female orgasm and contraception (including plan b). I'm pretty sure our class compared to other people I knew from other schools had lower teenage pregnancies if any. Our teacher was a women which probably helped. She even told us about the tricks guys may use like saying 'just the tip', when an older bf tried doing that years later I shut him down immediately. Although i wish she emphasized more about stds and maybe scared us a bit. I don't know how things would have turned out if the only weapon I had against teen hormones was my family motto abstain, abstain, good girls dont do that, wait for marriage.

I went to school in Oklahoma for a year in seventh grade and our sex Ed teacher demonstrated parental boundaries by moving a fish to a bigger tank every time the students cheered for it to move. Then she dumped the fish on the ground talking about, “see. This is why parents have boundaries :)” and we were all bugging out to put it back in. Fun note , that same class the science teacher straight up skipped the evolution unit and said it wasn’t real.

Growing up in Kansas in the 90s, I got a good sex education. Science, anatomy based. Discussed ALL options to prevent pregnancy, and said there were options to end an unwanted one, although didn't go into detail. My Health Ed. teacher in 8th grade actually said she wasn't allowed to discuss it, but she definitely told us there were ways to research it, and to talk to our doctors if we wanted to know more.

I moved to Arizona and due to a difference in graduation requirements, I had to take a semester of 9th grade PE my senior year. This included 2 weeks of "sex ed". The school brought in a Christian organization which used fear tactics to scare a class of girls into abstinence. Days of showing slide shows about STDs in their worst stages, horror stories about awful boyfriends and being abandoned when the girls end up pregnant. Nightmares about giving birth. I was a thorn in their sides, asking poignant questions that would make them stutter and give half answers. The rest of the class, remind you all 14 and 15 year old girls, looked at the 18 year old badgering the old bats. It actually made them think. By the 2nd week, the gym teacher took me aside and asked me to stop. I laughed and refused. The last day of the "sex ed", we all signed abstinence pledges. I laughed as I signed mine and handed it over.

In my catholic school we didn't get much more of " Woman vagina, man penis" but I think a more important class was when my religion teacher passed his classes telling us how he was preparing to be a Demonologist and participating in exorcisms

Oh no. Stuff like this is the reason I broke up with my ex. I was with him for 2 years and he couldnt do it. Decided I couldnt go my whole lifetime without my own partner being able to satisfy me
