I will start paying for dates when these men start addressing the pay gap, the glass ceiling, the wealth gap between men and women, lack of maternity leave, etc etc.

Men are always picking and choosing the parts of feminism that directly benefit them and line their pockets. Don't see them this pressed about the systemic inequalities that exist against women tho.

My condescending know-it-all LVX was annoyed that I was shopping at Victoria Secret for my workout leggings (that I was paying for).

He purchased shorts and tights for himself at Lululemon, so he didn’t see why I wasn’t shopping at the “superior” Lululemon.

I demanded that he look at the price tag for the Victoria Secret workout tights i was perusing. He about fell over. “Lululemon is way more expensive than that. NOW do you understand?”

Women pay more for everything. Now, STFU and hold my purse while I try this on.

Just kidding. He wouldn’t have held my purse or waited for me to try it on.

I'm indépendant : I don't need a date. Why should I pay to potentially get pumped and dumped (least awful scenario) when I could spend my money on something better? Why should I pay to impress a guy enough to marry me and then he can sit back, jerk it to porn and moan at me while I go through childbirth and do the majority (at least) of childcare. No thanks. That's a bad start to a bad end. We don't need that. We're independent and if guys offer little or nothing, we don't need them either. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Pay for a date? That's a big ol' nope from me.

8 years ago, a girlfriend introduced me to a guy who ended up adding me on facebook and asking me out. I said sure. In the week leading up to the date, he wasn't particularly trying to ask me anything about myself or get a decent conversation going, and he was trying to talk about baseball, but I let the conversation falter. At some point, he asked me if we could go dutch for the date and I reluctantly said sure, but then stopped taking him as seriously. In the few days leading up to the date, he called me twice and left a voice message each time to see if we were still on for the date. Initially I said yes, but then when he did it again the following day, I called off the date. I have a low tolerance for needy behavior and conversational narcissism, and those combined with his "let's go dutch" proposal just totally put me off. That was back when I was a decent bit of a pickme in my early 20's and I gotta say I'm kind of proud of myself because FDS-aligned standards were never spelled out to me back then.

They pay because it is a privilege to take our time away to spend on them to see if there's a connection. Why the hell would I spend my own money to stare at and listen to some strange man I know nothing about? Do they not understand how much more fun and relaxation I have in my own?

I think if pickmes disappeared who supported 50/50 nonsense we could get past this. Desperation for a man is degradation.

Women as a whole just need to refuse to entertain these scrotes entirely. Personally I’ve structured my life so that I only give my TIME ENERGY and ATTENTION to men who show me respect 100% of the time. My boyfriend, my male best friend, my male family members, even my bosses and coworkers at work. Everyone knows to treat me with respect and I’ll reciprocate, if you don’t I won’t fuck with you. I combine this with being genuinely kind, compassionate, and present to women indiscriminately and selectively with men who I feel respected by.

And what do you know, this transformed my life! Men will do what they can get away with, if they can talk down to you to boost their own ego, they will. If you allow them to mansplain, they will. If you establish a pattern of massaging their ego to curry favor, they will disrespect you in subtle and overt ways.

WE HAVE TO STOP DOING ANY OF THAT AND INSTEAD EXPECT TO BE TREATED WITH RESPECT AND RECIPROCITY. Every interaction is an opportunity to display your values. If a coworker mentions a coffee date, I scoff and say “if a guy asked me on a coffee date I’d block his number!” If a customer says he’s looking for a vacuum to buy his wife for her birthday, I joke “I hope that’s not all she’s getting!” If the subject of housework come up in a mixed group of men and women, I make sure to mention that yard work takes literally a fraction of the time than laundry and cleaning do and “in my family my dad did the yard work AND half the cooking and cleaning! My mom worked more and made more money than he did!” Every opportunity I get, I try to slip things into the conversation that promote feminist ideals.
