No, they were not exaggerating. I think you'll find that your experience with LPS is typical of most disagreement with or even questioning of feminists. Like you, I had an initial interest in feminism and pursued it with zeal, having heard little other than the dictionary definition prior. That was the better part of a decade ago. What put me over the edge was a post in a feminist forum featuring a severely abused man who had never struck back. The solutions feminists offered were to check his privilege, stop being such an asshole, and prostrate himself further. Of course, the toxicity of an ideology's adherents has no bearing on the truth of its assertions. Thankfully for me, not only are the people involved in it steeped in a culture of ad-hominem attack, but its very core is based on discrimination and demonstrably ridiculous ideas. I would recommend Karen Straughan's videos if you want a reasonably comprehensive dissection of feminist fallacies in a quick and fun form.

Yeah, that can be the way of it, sometimes. I got banned and accused of being a troll when some white knight decided he didn't like the fact that I made posts to r/MR; then he teamed up with a mod. That ban came from a completely unrelated thread (conspiratard) with me trying to tell a story about a student who had tried to cite Infowars as an academic source.

Here's the message I got from the moderator following the ban:

No one cares what a troll like you thinks. Personally I can't think of a better reason to dismiss someone than the fact that they post in MRA and actually believe that horseshit. As long as you people stay over there with your own ilk we'll have no problems. But when you bring that traush over here you're going to be treated exactly as you so richly deserve. Welcome to my ignore list, douchebag.

The kicker: I never brought the MRM up. They did. Didn't get even a singe chance to put my word in; it was just, "Fuck off, you have no voice here because you post in a completely unrelated sub."

Unless THE MOTHER is terminating the fetus, or putting the kid up for adoption, or leaving it at a safe haven...and if the father did any of those things against the mother's consent, then it is a crime. Never mind that she can do all of those things without the father's consent. So yeah, basically the mother can do anything she wants, but we're still supposed to believe that the guiding principle here is "best interests of the child". Okayyyy.

I have been banned from /r/feminism for speaking about male issues. I did not insult anyone or use bad language, I simply brought the male side to the discussion. It's clear to me now that /r/feminism is for women's issues only, not gender equality.

You can get away with saying things like "I've never been discriminated against because I'm a man".. stuff like that. Otherwise any sort of protest from a male is regarded as blasphemy. Feminism does not extend inclusion to men because of the privilege we supposedly have. They would rather you just go and die or commit suicide then acknowledge male oppression.. which is magically somehow derived from "patriarchy". In short they only want men to admit they are so privileged they don't ever experience any sort of discrimination because of their gender. Human rights are not to be taken lightly. So I'm curious; what happens if one parent quits or loses their job? Does that parent get taken to court for crimes against humanity? What if one parent dies; does it become the government's duty to find a replacement parent?

Furthermore, suppose you have a sibling. As every child has the right to two incomes, both parents now needs to work two jobs. That seems difficult to combine with the raising of small children, IMO.

From a legal standpoint it's true. The law doesn't indicate that forsaking rights to children at your own will are inherent rights in any way, nor that during pregnancy is a time it's allowed. It's based entirely around a right to bodily autonomy. In other words, it was made as a loophole, and people's culture that they generated around it thinking it's for other reasons is not based on what it's actual connotations were, nor are.

But yeah. Why you thought you could talk to feminists was beyond me.
