Someone commented that men have the most powerful voices on issues because most politicians are men. I asked them to show any examples of politicians speaking up for men. I was downvoted til hidden, but nobody provided a single example.

One response to my comment simply denied that men's rights was an issue despite me clearly listing several examples. The other asked why men are not lobbying for action on men's issues. I explained how some are but society as a whole not only is unconcerned with men, but how, particularly feminists, but society as a whole, will attack and demonize those who speak up for men as misogynist, and how it can even threaten job security, and to advocate for any men's issue would posit a politician as being anti women and destroy their chances politically. No response.

I also think it's rather telling that they expected men should be solely responsible for speaking up when men suffer and putting the blame on them alone. Blame men for not having a voice, then attack them when they speak up.

If they do speak up about mens issues, they get shouted down fucking hard, or they reneg(see Andrew Yang).

There was that guy who tried to get International mens day recognised in Britain(and to talk about their issues specifically then), Jess Phillips not only laughed but went on a whole tirade about men's inequality. Result: nothing happened.

Now find the female equivalents, from "the violence against women act", to the definition of rape excluding men, to all the grants and programs for women.

Can try to dig it up if I have time later, but there's a few studies that proves that both genders on average care more about womens wellbeing than that of men, so at any rate politicians regardless of gender would likely favour women moreso than men, in any situation in which they aren't exclusively serving the needs of individuals for their own benefit.

Which arguably proves that the gender of the leader is a largely moot point, their morals are what matters, which can go either way, fx; tons (iirc 40%?) of American women are pro-life, despite plentiful claims as if all women are pro-choice.

I wish they'd make male genital mutilation illegal - infant circumcision is crazy. The foreskin is attached to the glans of the penis like a fingernail to the nail nailbed at that age. It comes away naturally with age. It's supposed to be there to protect the sensitive glans! Not be ripped away from a baby who has no idea what his penis is even for yet. I know it's an American cultural thing, and maybe I'm a bit ignorant, but I think that unless it's for a medical reason (and what reason could that be) it's bordering on child abuse.

The gender of the person in power is irrelevant when the genders have equal voting rights. Women are the majority of voters, so politicians who cater to the majority are more likely to stay in office. Men will also support women's rights and privileges as a means to gain reproductive access, so it's not like men as a block vote to protect the collective male interest. But people see what they want to see, nuance be damned.

Well, let's make a list and everyone here should call (email is better - then there is a record) their state & federal representative's and give them the list. Everyone here complains about this stuff, but does anyone take any action to do anything?

When I called my state rep's, I noticed that everyone who answered the phones and everyone else I dealt with at the state & federal rep's office was a female. These are the gate keepers to the elected officials. It's like trying to talk to a celebrity (getting an interview, appt, etc), you have to go through their manager/agent/PR person - their GATEKEEPERS. People don't understand the power of these people. I wonder how many things just never make it to the representative b/c the gatekeeper decides it's not in THEIR interest. Could you imagine the outrage if there were the number of male's in these roles as there are females?

Look at colleges. How many dean's and president's of universities (even heads of departments) have women gatekeepers who schedule appts and give their bosses critical commuincations. Have you ever directly emailed any of these mentioned people, or are you always talking to the gatekeepers?

I think this is one of the biggest problems we face TBH. There is a lot of manipulation that goes on through these positions, they have the "ear" of their bosses. If the a topic is even brought up by the boss and they ask a question like "have we gotten many calls/emails about this?" the gatekeeper could play it off and say "not really, there hasn't been much interest shown recently" when there has been or maybe there hasn't been in the last day (whatever she classifies as "recently" at that moment).

Are most politicians men? Yup. Do those politicians speak up for male issues? Nope. Do those politicians speak about female issues? Yup, but typically in a negative way that goes against female issues.

So if you have a problem, stop blaming women for it and start blaming male politicians. They're too focused on fucking over women and couldn't care less about helping either side.
