I agree, in principle, a fetus has rights. Exactly which and to what degree can be argued, but that's not the point here.

However, to place the rights of an unborn person above those of the mother is unethical and immoral. Your claim that they are not an organ donation recipient is ironic because it's a perfect analogy. The pregnant woman and the fetus are in nearly the exact same relationship as a prospective (live) donor and recipient. Your argument that the fetus is in the environment "nature put them in for their survival" is specious and irrelevant. The donor is making the donation completely at their discretion and has the right to abort the donation/transplant at any time, if that's what they decide is best for them, and no one has any legal, ethical, or moral basis for compelling the donor to continue with the procedure.

Pro-choice. Especially after my pregnancy scare I can relate to the anxiety women and girls can have over unwanted pregnancies. Anyway, this anxiety will always win no matter what people say or do. Women and girls who are truly desperate will take any measure: overdose on vitamin C pills, fall from the stairs, getting hit by a car.. Safe abortions+birth control+ sex education is what we need. Not denying women and girls the access to have a safe abortion.

Pro life here: if we increased the number of resources for women and mothers, abortion rates would go down, and everybody wins. These include things like mandatory paid maternity leave, access to birth control, foster care/adoption reformation, abolition of child marriage in cases of pregnancy, affordable prenatal and neonatal care, flexible college education for parents, etc.

One problem I have with the pro-choice stance is the idea of eugenics. Even though right now the abortions are carried out on the "Do I want a baby?" premise, there is nothing that prevents women from having abortion on the "Do I want a baby with these specific traits?" premise. I'm not talking about abortions due to illnesses in the fetus, but on a very superficial level like sex, eye/hair color, or anything else. For example, imagine if a feminist Hitler gained popularity and advised women to abort any male fetuses and maybe even rewarded them for doing so. Abortions are a sphere where all equality laws can be basically ignored.

Pro-lifers: If a woman gets an abortion, should the man who ejaculated in her be charged with child endangerment?

I know if I believed my ejaculation might potentially contribute to murder, I would find it immoral to ejaculate in anyone who wasn't my wife and who wasn't begging me to impregnate her.

Men know that they lose control over what happens to their sperm once they put it in a woman. Not only may that woman get an abortion, she might kill your child in other ways—by living an unhealthy lifestyle, taking hot baths, taking too much vitamin C, not taking prenatal vitamins, etc etc.

By ejaculating in a woman who's not your wife, not desperate to be pregnant, not responsible, financially stable, and sober, or in any other way not ready and willing to be a mother, you're potentially putting a child in a situation that might get it killed.

Why don't we hold these men accountable for the death and bloodshed that they decided was less important than their orgasm?

Obviously I think this is a terrible idea, I'm just showing how ridiculous pro-life rhetoric seems when you ask men to interfere with THEIR pleasure.

Women are not responsible for ‘controlling’ male sexual choices.

If you care so much about stopping abortion then take responsibility to ensure you aren’t a contributing factor to unwanted pregnancy

If the answer to avoid pregnancy is to not have sex until your ready for a child then both men and women together need to follow this advice.

We often handle this debate the wrong way. When the question of abortion is asked is generally when both outcomes are considered bad, let us not kid ourselves about it. If you find yourself in a situation where you must make the choice to have an abortion or not, you are in a bad spot. Abortion is not something you would recommend willy-nilly to every pregnant women you would come accross.

The correct question we should ask ourselves is how to actually prevent the question of abortion of coming up altogether.

I think anyone who is sexually active in a hetero relationship should take a test at least once a month, track ovulation & use at least one form of bc.

Why do people seem more invested in addressing problems after they become problems rather than prevent them in the first place? It just seems like people want to live their lives and have less to think/care about.

Abortion follows the same procedural logic as when someone has a problem with their car. They take it to a mechanic (doctor) to tell them what the problem is and then pay to have that problem fixed, when the problem could have been averted if they had spent some time thinking about what they need to do to prevent the problem in the first place, like switching out old parts before they break down (or being more mindful about what they need to do to prevent a pregnancy from happening).

Most of the need for abortions stems from pure laziness and ignorance.

So, most people are actually both pro choice and pro life. Most people believe there are circumstances where abortion is not okay, such as after certain point of fetal maturity, and situations where it is okay, such as if the pregnant person would die without it.

So, the debate is not if abortion is okay or not, it is, when is it okay and under which circumstances. Most people, (and the law) agree, that it is okay to tell pregnant people they cannot get an abortion at some point, bar extenuating circumstances.

This proves that abortion is not a question of bodily autonomy, otherwise it would be legal for pregnant people getting abortions at 9 months for any reason or no reason at all, as the pregnant persons's autonomy would trump the baby's life.

This means that the crux of the issue is fetal viability.

Being that this is the case, I believe that the maximum point at which you can get an abortion, barring extenuating circumstances should be 21 weeks, being that it is currently possible for a baby to survive at that point of birth. I also believe, that as science advances, we should look to further reduce the window of abortions to match the lowest possible fetal viability.

Oh yeah, and since, quote, "the vast majority of abortions are super early during pregnancy!"" People shouldnt have much of a problem with it. Its a very minor change in terms of how many people would be effected.
