I started to notice instances where I believe women have mislabeled asshole behavior. Most recently I came across this comment:

Essentially, a guy invites a girl to an art show and he assumes she is staying at his flat. She assumed the invite was without romantic intent and calls the whole thing off and proclaims this is ‘asshole behavior.’

Of course some women do often mislabel things and make mistakes. I’m not stating that no woman has ever mislabeled someone as an asshole. What I have begun to notice, however, was that this mislabeling is far more common than I previously realized and may even contribute to the confusion among young men.

Another example is the response I have seen men receive for wanting women only for their bodies. Well there is nothing really wrong with that in my opinion. If men or women want to sleep with someone purely out of physical desire, then that is their prerogative and I don’t think it makes them an “asshole.”

Oftentimes, when women do this, it just comes across as a roundabout way to shame men for wanting to only sleep with them. The gendered reverse of slut shaming. I think these women believe it is okay to want to sleep with them, but get slighted at the thought of the man only wanting that. It’s as if he doesn’t desire the full package, then he is morally corrupt in some way.

Ultimately, I think it does a disservice as it adds validity to the confused guys who believe nice guys finish last.

Do you perceive women doing this? Why do you think they do it?
