I like to argue. There's not much of an outlet for that in my real life, so I turn to the internet.

What I've noticed on PPD lately though, is that many people aren't interested in arguing as much as they are agenda-posting.

It was always like that to an extent, but seems worse now. Probably in part because the internet has been overwhelmed by agenda-driven shitposting

Yeah arguing is enjoyable...

And yeah it has "changed" my view quite a few times. Most often as a refinement, a making better, a making more justifiable, of a current view but also on occasion changing that view entirely. These are the best arguments. Where my opponent is interesting and insightful.

I'm a big believer in changing your views when it's clear you are wrong or you can't honestly defend them... so as to be right in future.

It's this process that is the reason I am so often right. It's taking me 20 years of being wrong on the internet to get where I am today. Almost always right 😎

I don't understand people who stubbornly hold to their view when they have clearly made an utter arse of themselves defending it. That behaviour utterly baffles me. It's useful, but utterly baffling.

Finally, I enjoy arguing for several reasons. However, this does not usually involve convincing my opponent he/she is wrong. This almost never happens. Although some people do make an awful arse of themselves being stubborn.

I find it fun in itself, I get more reward from it myself as it helps me refine my views, and very commonly I get the satisfaction of changing people's minds... it's just that those minds are the minds of the lurkers/other commenters reading the thread and not the opponent.

I'd like to offer my thanks to all the stupid, idiotic and stubborn posters who won't admit you are wrong. You do me a great service in providing the foil I need to convince the unaligned/lurking people wandering by. Without your idiotic stubbornness I would not be able to make this happen as my arguments would not look so good in comparison.

We are all in your debt. God bless the fuckwits for without them the unaligned passers by and the lurkers would not get a chance to be convinced of the truth by witnessing me and other posters grinding the fuckwits faces in the dirt.

I am a former lawyer and debater so there are two vastly different meanings to the words argue and argument. The first is emotion-ladend and nonsensical while the second is cooler, logical and well thought out.

I love the latter in what can also be called a discussion.

Over the last three decades of adult life, I have formed some rather solid opinons, which seems to piss off some people from time to time. But I am always open to revision and always free to share my views with others.

For the most part, it is a matter of nuance in that the more gifted posters here can add colour and texture to my otherwise fixed views on women, life and everything.

It's good to hold frame, and play around with ones thoughts, and way of writing to practice clarity, or nuance.

Remember, there's people in here who condone, encourage, and in some cases, actively work at DOXXing my brothers. Theres people in here who attach all their insecurities on my brothers, people who want nothing more than to spit on my brothers, for no reason but a cathardic high.

And then turn around and lament that there is no rational debate.

Debate is about two people, performing their cases for an audience to just who is the more persuasive after all. The other person is largely irrelevant, other than a devils advocate for what my brothers say to begin with.

And it gets boring. My brothers have pointed out the 2 or 3 different conversations, that simply switch out the details each time. Whats left to do but treat this absurdity by being absurd?

If my brothers detractors, in all their blue glory, notice a distinct change in ration, respect, and tone from my brothers in here, vice their own red pilled venues, then it may be best to go clean out ones own house, because likely it's mockery, and probably for good reason.

I've been way better at metaphor, concise-ty[?], and so many verifications of my experiences than when I started collecting 7 day bands from this place.

Having said that. Contradictory people in my real life prove far less argumentative, hence my general charming demeanor IRL

Most people don't change their views publicly. When they're invested in an opinion or perspective, they'll try to save face. This isn't a bad thing though. This refines arguments through public challenge. The point of public arguing is to reveal both perspectives to avoid the typical mistake of creating strawmen arguments out of the opposing perspective's imagined views.

People do change their minds in private over time though.

I like a good, constructive debate, and this place does sometimes deliver. I may look like a newcomer, but I am not. This place ebbs and flows with quality. I left last time because I was sick of getting red envelopes of nothing but being called vulgar names (as well as 8 people with novel length replies to your comments, ain't nobody got time for that). I can't stand that. No one wants to abused, especially when you put some thought into your reply, even when it's some stranger on the Internet. It wasn't good for my mental health, and what was the point? But as long as things stay civil, I'll dip my toe back into this place.

...But I honestly would still be at TRP if there wasn't so much hate/anger from newbies... Or those who refuse to get over it and move on to improvement.

I like to argue. It keeps my brain juices flowing and since physical force is against the law, I can only eviscerate someone with vicious rhetoric nowadays lol. This place helps with quips especially. And since most of us are more nerdy/scientific/quick witted, many facts Ive learned here has bolstered my points during discussions with others.

I enjoy debating. Being honest if I see it's getting nowhere and no one is budging, I'll just stop replying. It's easier to allow that person to think they've 'won' than to go through the hassle of replying.

It's made me realize at least some of my views are compatible with some feminist or BP views people put forward, but in other ways I feel miles apart from them.

I do like how every once in awhile i can find someone that says "huh, yeah, i guess that does make sense". It doesnt happen often but i enjoy it when it does.

I like arguing on here, because there's a lot of gray area when it comes to individuals, attraction, and the like. In politics, there's hardly ever an openness to alternative thought.

I think this sub as a whole has convinced me that my views are relatively extreme, and that without similar experiences in life, not only will people be unable to comprehend what our society has done, but they will actively attempt to give excuses for why I think the way I do.

I think it's mostly arguing, because we all have worthy others in our personal lives with whom to get along and share positive vibes.

Yes! It helps my job and logical skills too. The people who debate on here are like 5x more experienced and crafty with their exposition and subsequent retorts than the people I deal with IRL daily. So my ability to talk circles around people I know has grown thanks in part to this place.

When I discovered PPD, what I liked was seeing BP and RP making jokes with each other-- it felt like, here, finally, maybe there's some peace and reason.

Since starting to pay more attention, I believe that was the exception, not the rule.

I wouldn't have called myself BP earlier, because I hold ideas contrary to the most popular varieties of feminism where I live. I feel as if the reasonableness of BP posted on TPPD has led me to think that's inappropriate-- that the things I believe are not incompatible with BP, but rather that BP includes extremist members with views I mistakenly took to be representative.

What I have seen of the RP on TPPD has completely eroded any sympathy. I think I've seen two or three RP posters who seem reasonable and capable of self-reflection in a sea of infinite RP shit. No offense to you reasonable ones, but I've got to judge the movement on its members.

Meanwhile, the very existence of all this alpha/beta/PUA pseudo-self-actualization crap has caused to me to be a much larger asshole than I prefer. It's not intentional, but when people act like that, I mirror the behavior and values that I'm exposed to, and in TPPD, it leads me to want to emasculate RP'ers rather than talk with them and learn from them. I feel primed to feel as if I'm constantly in sexual competition with them even though it's not actually the case.

I like arguing, but also educating people on a rarely heard point of view, when it takes my fancy.

RP and androcentric perspectives are rarely heard in the mainstream, so you get a lot of BP people who visit this forum with little idea that they exist or the reasoning behind them. Whether they agree or disagree isn't important. Just sharing the point of view is satisfaction enough.

There have been several people who have visibly shifted their perspective further to the red side, but this is neither expected nor desired. The main thing is that people know that their BP view of the world is contested and with some solid arguments. There are endless occasions when BPers have not been able to come back with solid points themselves, have descended into strawmanning, been guilty of ad hominem or engaged in obfuscation. This shows the inadequacy of the reasoning behind their position and provides useful insight into the strength of many RP positions on the sexual market place.
