Cat calling (in a non-feminist context) isnt supposed to "work". It's just someone yelling at another person because they feel like it.

I've never seen it work. Even between LC/WC people. The guys will shout something lewd, the girls shout something vulgar back, but she never stops to give him a number or anything.

I would bet that very, very few men have gotten laid via cat-calling. However, I don't think the point is actually to get laid. It's just a way for men to either joke around or to kind of "radar" their sexuality out to the world, i.e. convey masculinity. No sensible man expects a cat-called woman to just randomly sit on his dick.

Never seen or heard of a man getting a date or anything out of catcalling. Best case scenario you get a smile or reciprocal comment and then she keeps walking.

I'm sure there have been some rare cases where it has worked, but I would wonder about the mental wellness of a woman who responded to "hey baby get in my car" with actually getting in the car, for example. It could never work on a reasonable and even mildly intelligent woman.

I get screamed at/ followed/ wolf whistled pretty much every day. I've tried various approaches to manage it, but there's nothing that works for everyone. I've found ignoring men makes them much more likely to follow you, so I never do that. A stern look, a quick 'fuck off', or flipping the bird seems to be the best strategy for me.

Cat calling isn't supposed to work. It's scared men showing each other that they aren't afraid to yell things at women/pretty women.

Now if you are talking about going direct on a stranger and actually trying to have sex with her, yes it absolutely works, although at a significantly lower percentage than indirect (not just going straight for the fuck.)

Catcalling is trying to get away with a sex themed "prank," while going direct is being very honest and up front with a girl you are strongly attracted to.

Not only does it work, but in some parts of the world it is a very legitimate "flirting method." Emphasis on some parts of the world, though. In many parts it does not work and in those parts catcalling serves little purpose other than to troll strangers.

What's cat-calling?

I've never given a guy screaming "A yo ma! You look good!" or "Yo shortie in the blue dress, your ass is fat!" anything other than a smile and coy nod. Mostly because men who speak and behave like that aren't in my social strata and I don't like crude language with strangers. But I'm sure their catcalls work on women who speak and socialize as they do.

However I have sparked legitimate convos with men and women who randomly introduced themselves to me in a flirtatious, but respectful manner.

This has happened at the coffee shop, the grocery store, and yes even walking in a park or street festival.

When I was in college, I used to catcall with my friends. We definitely did not do it to get laid. It was just a fun thing we were doing and it kind of got us in the mood to make legitimate approaches.

I doubt that catcalling ever really works, but, as I said, it's not really meant to.

It has worked, I've seen it work. He'll it's worked for me. Some conditions apply.

We were all young. Under 23 to be exact.
It was summer, we lived in a vacation hotspot near the beach.

We sat at the beach on a bench and yelled things like "nice bum where you from"

No one got mad, most girls smiled. A few walked over and asked if we were locals and if we knew of any parties going on.

Yes. I remember walking around college campuses or neighborhoods full of college students, and decent looking boys would call out to us on the sidewalk when they looking to bring more girls into their little gathering and we would go up to party. I'm not saying each of us preformed sexual favors 100% of the time, but thats how you meet girls and get your foot in the door. This was around 2006,2007, so not like a lifetime ago.

Difference between cat calling and cold street approach is maturity and creativity of the execution. Catcalling would be amateur implementation. The simplistic addition of a pause and an self introduction massively increases success.
