Well, there are more differences than just reproductive organs. Muscle Mass, Fat ressources, Bone density etc.

I don’t enjoy having to keep up with female beauty standards in western society. It’s something that was forced onto me. If you don’t shave your legs you will get ridiculed and bullied, if you’re an adult woman you will get taken more seriously if you wear make up.

But yeah, Femininity is a performance. Sex isn’t, but gender in general is.

Every time someone asks men here what they want in a woman or what traits they think are feminine, they give answers like cooperative. Is cooperative a perfume? A shampoo? Can I buy it at CVS or do I have to go to a salon?

I agree that modern society attempts to reduce femininity to a costume. Go over to redpillwomen and you’ll see posts about how they got rid of all their pants or how they were really channeling their feminine energy yesterday by wearing a skirt, as though girls come out of the womb with dresses and makeup on. I agree that it skews what men think is natural in a woman.

I disagree that that femininity stops at the surface, or else a drag Queen or well-made-up obese woman would be more attractive to straight men than the 19-yo sorority girl who just rolled out of bed.

This viewpoint originates from men’s (not all men, mind you) interpretation of what a woman is.

If this were true, then you could look at a drag queen and think, “Yup, that’s definitely an actual woman.” But you don’t. Because you know that most drag queens are cis men and you can recognize that underneath all the makeup and prosthetics and wigs.

A lot of men (not all) are incapable of looking beyond their initial physical interpretation of a woman. You see breasts and hips and a beautiful face and you will never see anything more because your brain focuses purely on the physical.

When she speaks, you hear static. Literally. I’m not using a metaphor - I genuinely believe some men stop actively listening the moment a woman opens her mouth. Your brain is incapable of hearing her the same way you would hear a man speak. I’m not saying this as an insult, either. I think it’s simply a fact.

Observe the behaviors between a naked, bald, un-made up woman and a naked, bald, un-made up man and you will notice many differences.

That is, if you can find any interest at all in observing the woman beyond her breasts and the sway of her hips.

OP, if you have a chip on your shoulder with regards to women working on their self-presentation you are welcome to go to Kentucky, walk into the nearest house in some white middle class area, and take out the first woman you see - she will definitely be natural and her looks will not be altered. It was always an option.

Women and men differ on the basis of their biologically determined sexual characteristics (not just sex organs but how sex organs impact flow of life). I've never heard anyone say this although there must be some women for whom the is true. There does seem to be a lot of YouTube channels about fashion and makeup but I thought this was to make money.

I always thought it was social pressure on women to look good. I suppose following this pressure could become a bit of a hobby.

There are also women who bow out of this. South Korea has an entire movement of women who avoid the makeup, fashion, look pretty thing. It is called the "4 Bs", in English this translates as the "4 Now".

Femininity is generally seen as going beyond the physical and into what people actually do. You can be a tomboy who dresses in conventional women's clothing and would never be called feminine. But even the physical can't be bought. You can't get a new face or body shape and size in a shop.

As far as I can tell some men want women to present femininely both in appearance and demeanor, but aren’t interested in or even want to see the effort that goes in to that presentation. You want her to show up in to your life and look and act the right way. Women, or people who are biologically female have on average smoother skin, wider hips, breasts and certain reproductive organs. But women who are beautiful or cute or attractive even naturally so, almost certainly engage in behavior to accentuate those differences. You like looking at pretty women, and you you’re put off by colorfully died hair or obvious makeup, you like a more natural look. That’s a fine personal preference. But why express this preference with all the psycho analysis? This post is predicated on the idea that femininity is fake and superficial. Are you honestly only looking at women who put in the same or less effort in their appearance as you? I’m guessing you like running your hands over a smooth body(moisturizer, exfoliation, waxing/shaving) or looking at pretty smile (orthodontia, tooth whitening, lip balm). Women and individuals with long hair have to maintain it or it gets unkempt. Even women with naturally curly long hair use products and styles that accentuate those natural curls. I promise you are looking at and finding attractive women who do a lot of this labor behind the scenes, they just don’t top it off with bright lipstick or highlights. When is it superficial when is it just “normal hygiene” and taking care of your appearance? For most men who make these posts the line seems to be drawn at what you find attractive.
