Are you sure there's not A REASON why women get shorter sentences for the same crimes? It's easy to say "it's the women are wonderful effect reee", but what about attenuating circumstances?

Men commit 20X more crimes than women. Women commit so little crimes that those who do commit crimes are often mentally ill (delusional symptoms) or in abusive relationships, and they are much less likely to be repeat offenders compared to men.

"In comparison to male offenders, female offenders were more likely to be older, married and have children. They were also more likely to be presently victims of physical, psychological and sexual abuse, as well as childhood physical, psychological and sexual abuse. They showed also elevated levels of substances abuse, and were more frequently suffering from physical and mental illness [3,5,7,11,18,23]. Yourstone [21] established that female offenders were less likely to be foreign nationals than male offenders. Female offenders have been found to have less prior convictions [5,21], have lower rates of psychopathy (see the Hare Psychopathy-Checklist-Revised [24]) [14,25,26] and are less likely to recidivate than male offenders [7]." You also have to look at what works. Female offenders are more likely to have children and less likely to recidivate. Maybe it is in fact helpful to give them shorter sentences as to limit the time their children have to spend in foster care and maybe that gives them more reasons to not recidivate once they get out. That probably sounds sexist, but at the end of the day, if women are less likely to recidivate, they don't need longer sentences. The goal is rehabilitation, isn't?

I'm not saying a man and a woman on trial for the same crime and presenting the exact same characteristics should be treated differently. I'm saying on average there are differences in the characteristics pertaining to male and female convicts, and those might in part explain the differences in sentences.

Men who are repeat offenders most likely have higher levels of mental illness too, what's your point tho? In fact I've known guys who got off charges for intent to supply drugs based purely on the defence that yes they admit to doing it but only to fund their self-medication. They only got suspended sentences.

And yet if you look at the stats, on average, women still get lower sentences even though the same defences are open to men.

I do think a lot of judges and juries will look at a woman with kids and let her off more easily as you've said. But I don't think that's right. If I was to get called up for jury duty in a case like that I would judge a woman with kids the same way I'd judge a man without kids. I'd be looking at the severity of the crime, motive, intent, and the evidence put forward.

If anything the fact women can get off easily purely because they're mothers is the Women are Wonderful effect at work.

But I mean to show an extreme case here that doesn't relate to any of the above, Casey Anthony got off a murder charge in a case where she killed her own infant child for crying out loud.

Never understood the sentiment that "Female-On-Male Statutory Rape needs to be taken more seriously!" thing. If I got to have sex with one of the pretty teachers at my school i'd fucking love it.

Yeah, there's probably victims who do feel defiled in some way, but for most men they don't care. Men and women are different, our expectations in society are different. While a woman is more expected to have one partner or remain pure in some way, so having sex with an older man at a young age might be quite bad for her mentally, a man is expected to get around more. As the comments prove, it's a virtue to have fucked an older, pretty woman as a young guy.

And it's not as if minors aren't totally having sex one way or another. The average age for virginity loss for men in the USA is 16.9 years old. You're not losing some innocence by having sex with your teacher at that age, especially not if you're a boy.

That's not to say that we shouldn't listen to those who do feel like victims -- we definitely should. I just don't know if we should speak for every one of the teenagers in that situation and say that they should feel bad about what happened to them.

First, the teacher doesn't go for the hot guy in class, or the popular confident one. She goes for the loner with few or no friends. She goes for the outcast.

I never made the claim that women don't love sex, did I? If anything, the fact that so many female teachers lust after their teenage students shows us that women are indeed just as sexual and horny as men. In cases where the boy is over 16 (age of consent) who's to say anyone is an "abuser"? If they're both happy then by definition it's not an abusive relationship, an abusive relationship makes you miserable. A victim in an abusive relationship is afraid to leave, not wanting to stay because they enjoy it.

In cases where you're talking about actual children it's different of course, fuck the legit paedophiles. But most of these cases I see reported are older teenagers 16+ and if those women were not teachers it wouldn't even go to court at all.

For what it's worth when I was 16 I was in a relationship with a 21 year old for a bit. My family didn't worry, just made jokes about me being a toy boy. It wasn't a great relationship overall but it didn't leave me traumatised afterwards. I didn't feel "abused." Why would I?

No, it's a potential consequence of sex when women have sex with men.

Consider the following table: can the victim become pregnant?

From this you can clearly see that only male perpetrators can have pregnant victims. If a female perpetrator becomes pregnant, it's not the victim who becomes pregnant.

1) It is factually true that female predators are far less likely to be coercive, to blackmail, etc. Usually just some casual seduction does the job if the kid isn't already interested in her. This results in incidents between female teachers and male students harder to demonstrate as directly harmful without the male student's direct testimony that he believes he was taken advantage of and was damaged by it. Judges sentence mutual "We care about each other" and even "We were just having fun" more leniently regardless of gender but it's more frequent when the woman is the predator.

2) Convesely, abuse and overt manipulation and such is far more common when men are involved and it leads to the assumption that a male predator is potentially violent and dangerous, where female predators can often maintain an air of harmlessness.

3) The judiciary is mostly run by men, and the women who work in the criminal justice system are the ones hardened enough to work in a severely male dominated field. Let's be honest. Men are by and large harder on other men than they are on women. And women in the criminal justice system will just tend to be equally hard on both.

That's not my experience. IME /r/AskWomen is way worse. For start the comment I'm replying to, would have been removed for "disagreeing with other people's experience". There was a thread about what they don't like about being a woman online (something along the lines to include the word sexism). There was a woman who played FPS, she said "Being shit on by gamers.". I started a conversation with her, and asked her what shit she got. She accurately told me, she was 'shit on, not hit on'. I told her, then this case is not about sexism. It's about angry people playing FPS, since I get the same shit and so does my brother. I believe that was the last appearance of mine at that sub. Interestingly my comment was disrespecting her experience, but the one that said me and my brother experiencing friendly banter (strangers yelling from the bottom of their lungs that they will kill me, demeaning my mother, etc), so that does not compare with her experience of getting shit.
